answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/03/2020 answer text <p>The Government published “The UK’s Points-Based System: Policy Statement” on 19 February.</p><p>We are ending free movement and will bring in a firm and fair points-based system that will attract the high skilled workers we need to contribute to our economy, our communities and our public services. Businesses will have to make some adjustments and focus on upskilling the resident UK labour force and investing in new technology.</p><p>Many businesses, like the security industry, will also be able to continue to rely on EU nationals living in the UK with settled or pre-settled status.</p><p>We recognise these proposals represent significant change for some employers in the UK. We will deliver a comprehensive programme of communication and engagement in the coming months.</p><p>In delivering on its manifesto commitments for a new points-based system, the Government has considered relevant views, evidence, and analysis. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/03/2020 answer text <p>EU citizens and their family members who have obtained pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme will continue to access benefits on the same basis and according to the same rules as they do now.</p><p>This means EU citizens will still need to demonstrate they are exercising a qualifying right to reside, for example as a worker, in order to access taxpayer funded benefits, such as Universal Credit. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/05/2020 answer text <p>Individuals granted pre-settled or settled status have had the option within the ‘view and prove your settled or pre-settled status’ service to share their status information for a variety of reasons since 30th September 2019. This is done by generating a ‘share code’ which can be given to a third party to provide them with time-limited access to the data. One of these options (‘work in the UK’) takes users to a separate Home Office service, which can also be used by individuals who have not been through the EU Settlement Scheme (holders of Biometric Residence Permits (BRP) and Biometric Residence Cards (BRC)).</p><p>The ability to share information via the online service(s) is entirely optional; EEA nationals can continue to rely on their passports or national ID cards until 30 June 2021 to evidence their rights in the UK but can choose to use the online service if they wish. Those with a BRP/C can also continue to rely on their physical cards.</p><p>While data relating to number of share codes generated is captured for internal purposes, this is not representative of the number of times users have shared their status information. Data on the number of views of a person’s status by third parties gives a more accurate reflection of checks carried out, and this is intended to be included when data on usage is published.</p><p>Data on usage of the ‘view and prove’ service is intended to be published as part of the Home Office Transparency Data. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/03/2020 answer text <p>Article 1 (vi) of the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement sets out the birthright of all the people of Northern Ireland to identify themselves and be accepted as Irish or British as they may so choose, and confirms their right to hold both British and Irish citizenship. In line with this commitment, the people of Northern Ireland are legally able to hold British or Irish citizenship, or both.</p><p>The reciprocal Common Travel Area arrangements between the UK and Ireland ensure the people of Northern Ireland are not required to choose and assert an identity, or to align their citizenship with their choice of identity, in order to access public services and other entitlements in the UK.</p><p>As set out in the New Decade, New Approach document published in January 2020, the Home Office intends to change the UK’s Immigration Rules so family members of the people of Northern Ireland can apply for immigration status on broadly the same terms as family members of Irish citizens and will open this route as soon as delivery allows. We aim to do this before the end of the year.</p><p>The Rules change will enable the people of Northern Ireland to bring their family members to the UK on broadly the same basis as family members of Irish citizens who have entry and residence rights under the EU Withdrawal Agreement.</p><p>Where family members of Irish citizens are not covered by the Withdrawal Agreement (for example, because the Irish citizen moved to the UK after the end of the transition period) they will, as now, be able to apply for immigration status under the UK’s family Immigration Rules. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/06/2020 answer text <p>The number of administrative reviews of decisions under the EU Settlement Scheme is very low compared to the number of applications concluded (more than 3.3 million) to 31 May 2020.</p><p>Where EU Settlement Scheme decisions are overturned at administrative review, in the majority of cases this is a result of applicants providing new information or evidence which was not provided with their original application.</p><p>There are a small number of cases where a caseworker error has occurred, and in such cases the application fee for the administrative review is refunded. Our administrative review teams provide feedback to the initial decision-making teams to reduce the likelihood of such errors being repeated.</p><p>There is a wide range of guidance and support available for applicants and, where necessary, our caseworkers will work with applicants to help them provide the evidence required to qualify for status under the scheme.
