Friend the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has confirmed that local authorities will continue to commission sexual health, school nurses and health visitors. The review found that local authorities take an active and efficient approach to commissioning services and recognised the steps that local authorities have taken to improve and modernise the services they commission. The review recommended that the National Health Service work much more closely with local authorities on public health so that commissioning is more joined-up and prevention is embedded into a wider range of health services. The Department will be seeking views in the forthcoming Prevention Green Paper about how action can be taken forward.</p><p>My Rt. hon. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/06/2019 answer text <p>The Government is committed to expanding access to community-based mental health services over the next five years.</p><p>Under the NHS Long Term Plan, a new community-based offer will include access to psychological therapies, improved physical health care, employment support, personalised and trauma-informed care, medicines management and support for self-harm and coexisting substance use. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/06/2019 answer text <p>The Government is committed to reducing waiting times for children and young people with mental ill health.</p><p>Following the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health, in 2016 we introduced two waiting time standards. The first aims for 95% of children (up to 19 years old) with eating disorders to receive treatment within a week for urgent cases and four weeks for routine cases. The second is that 50% of patients experiencing a first episode of psychosis receive treatment within two weeks of referral.</p><p>In the Children and Young People’s Green Paper published jointly with the Department for Education, we also announced a four week waiting time to improve access to National Health Service mental health services, which we are rolling out in a number of trailblazer areas as a pilot, alongside the new mental health support teams, with a view to rolling out waiting times nationally.</p><p>The NHS Long Term Plan goes further with the goal of an extra 345,000 children and young people aged 0 -25 receiving support via NHS-funded mental health services by 2023/24. The evidence is clear that income and physical and mental health outcomes are closely associated. The NHS Long Term Plan for the National Health Service, backed by an extra £33.9 billion a year in cash terms by 2023/24, puts prevention at its heart and early intervention is key. The Government is supporting this with an additional £2.3 billion a year to expand mental health services and help ensure 345,000 more children and young people under 25 receive mental health support by 2023/24. Tackling the root cause of poverty remains a priority for this Government and some families need more support.
