answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/06/2021 answer text <p>The UK is monitoring international progress on low carbon steel making trials, using hydrogen and other technologies, and is actively engaged in international initiatives to support industrial decarbonisation innovation, including the Mission Innovation platform and the Leadership Group for Industry Transition.</p><p> </p><p>Decarbonising UK industry is a core part of the government’s ambitious plan for the green industrial revolution. The Industrial Decarbonisation Strategy, published on 17 March, commits government to work with the Steel Council to consider the implications of the recommendation of the Climate Change Committee to ‘set targets for ore-based steelmaking to reach near-zero emissions by 2035’. The Steel Council offers the forum for government, industry and trade unions to work in partnership on the shared objective of creating an achievable, long-term plan to support the sector’s transition to a competitive, sustainable and low carbon future. Hydrogen-based steelmaking is one of the technological approaches being examined as part of this process.</p><p> </p><p>The UK steel sector will be given the opportunity to bid into industrial fuel switching innovation programmes under the £1 billion Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP), which is intended to promote switching away from more carbon-intensive fuel sources. Life science companies can access NIHR resources at any stage in their clinical development process and DHSC ensures all parts of the NIHR are open to collaboration with industry.</p><p>The Government is committed to making the UK a global hub for life sciences. This means building on our strengths in basic science and medical research to ensure the UK remains at the forefront of worldwide efforts to tackle the most pressing healthcare challenges, from cancer to dementia.</p><p>As part of our commitment, the Government will raise total UK investment in R&amp;D to 2.4% of GDP by 2027. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/06/2021 answer text <p>The UK Government has secured early access to 397 million vaccine doses through supply agreements with six separate vaccine developers, of which four have received regulatory approval and three are currently in deployment. This includes agreements with:</p><ul><li>Pfizer/BioNTech for 100 million doses</li><li>University of Oxford/AstraZeneca for 100 million doses</li><li>Moderna for 17 million doses</li><li>Novavax for 60 million doses</li><li>Janssen for 20 million doses</li><li>Valneva for 100 million doses</li></ul><p>In addition, the Government has a reservation agreement with GlaxoSmithKline/Sanofi Pasteur for 60 million doses and a non-binding agreement with CureVac for 50 million doses.</p><p> </p><p>We are in constant contact with the vaccine manufacturers and are confident that the supply of vaccines to the UK will not be disrupted and that we will meet the vaccination targets set out by my Rt. Hon. Friend the Prime Minister on 14 June:</p><ul><li>All adults aged 18 and over to be offered a first dose by 19 July, 2 weeks earlier than planned.</li><li>By 19 July, all those aged over 50 and the clinically extremely vulnerable to have been offered their second dose.</li><li>Second doses for all over 40s will be accelerated by reducing the dosing interval from 12 weeks to 8 weeks.
