<p>The latest published figures, as at 19 January 2017, show that there were 112,057
children or young people with a Statement of SEN (39%) and 175,233 children or young
people with an EHC plan (61%).</p><p> </p><p>The department collects annual data from
local authorities on the number of Statements of Special Educational Need (SEN) and
Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans that each local authority maintains. This data
is published in the statistical first release “Statements of SEN and EHC plans: England”.</p><p>
