The application deadline for the MDMTF is not until 30 June. This policy will take time to design in order to be delivered effectively.</p><p>Based on previous evidence, complex decarbonisation projects have long lead-in times and take time to set up. Due to this and other factors, the steel sector indicated in response to the 2019 Call for Evidence that their preference is for the CSF to be launched in 2023. Other schemes are available to support the sector and are live now, including the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund.</p><p>Decarbonising UK industry is a core part of the Government’s ambitious plan for the green industrial revolution. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/06/2021 answer text <p>The Government has worked at pace to find safe and effective vaccines against COVID-19 as quickly as possible. We have supported the development of COVID-19 vaccines in the UK through a number of investments, including:</p><ul><li>£20 million to fund clinical trials of the University of Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine.</li><li>Over £40 million for the development of Imperial College London’s vaccine.</li><li>£33.6 million for the Human Challenge Programme.</li><li>£22 million for a world-leading study to test the effectiveness of combinations of different COVID-19 vaccines. This will also fund the world’s first study assessing the effectiveness of a third dose of vaccine to improve the response against current and future variants of COVID-19.</li></ul><p> </p><p>The Government has also funded the NHS Registry, developed by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), to enable individuals to sign up to participate in COVID-19 vaccine trials. This has made the UK well-suited to facilitate clinical trials that are essential to the development of any vaccine. As of 9 June 2021, over 502,000 people had signed up.</p><p> </p><p>The UK has also joined COVAX, an international initiative to support the discovery, manufacture, and fair distribution of COVID-19 vaccines across the world. This year’s data was published on 19 May and can be found at: <a href="http://www.gov.uk/government/publications/steel-public-procurement-2021" target="_blank">www.gov.uk/government/publications/steel-public-procurement-2021</a>.</p><p> </p><p>The reported value of UK steel procured in 2019/20 for major public projects was £108m, a 33% increase on the previous year. The Industrial Decarbonisation Strategy, published on 17 March, commits government to work with the Steel Council to consider the implications of the recommendation of the Climate Change Committee to ‘set targets for ore-based steelmaking to reach near-zero emissions by 2035’.</p><p> </p><p>The UK is engaged in key international initiatives focused on industry decarbonisation and we are engaging with a range of stakeholders in Germany, Sweden and China (as well as other countries) to better understand the latest plans to decarbonise steel production.</p><p> </p><p>Hydrogen, electrification, and carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS) are the main technological options being examined as part of this process.
