answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/03/2023 answer text <p>The Standard Learning Credits (SLC) Scheme provides financial support throughout a Service persons’ career to enhance their educational and vocational achievements in service. It allows for multiple, small-scale learning purposes and courses that have been approved by their Line Manager and discussed with Education Staff as part of a Service persons’ Personal Development Plan. Veterans are not eligible for the SLC scheme unless specific criteria are met, as outlined in Joint Service Publication (JSP) 534 – Tri Service Resettlement and Employment Support Manual.</p><p> </p><p>The Ministry of Defence does not maintain a list of individual courses eligible for SLCs. Instead, Defence has criteria which a course must meet in order to be eligible for a Service person to use SLCs on. This fairly reflects the unique sacrifice they have provided their country throughout their career. Armed Forces pensions are claimed and paid in the same way no matter where a veteran chooses to live and uprated in-line with the consumer price index (CPI). The CPI rate used is the CPI headline rate for the September prior to the April adjustment the following year as announced by the Treasury. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/03/2023 answer text <p>Since the policy announcement on the restoration of medals in February 2021, the Ministry of Defence has received eight applications for the restoration of medals. <br> <br> A disregard for any previous conviction is a pre-condition for the restoration of an honour or medal. This issue was recognised by Sir John Holmes in the Military Medals Review published in July 2012. Work is underway to develop the verification system required in order to begin the second phase of the card rollout to those who left service before December 2018. The Office for Veterans’ Affairs has led this work through the initial development phases and the Ministry of Defence has now taken responsibility for the next stage which will further develop and test the service, including with a small community of veterans. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/03/2023 answer text <p>The number of domestic flights taken by Ministry of Defence (MOD) officials for each of years between 2017-18 and 2020-21 are: 2017-18 - 25,018; 2018-19 - 24,003; 2019-20 - 25,334; 2020-21 - 1,432. These figures were reported under the Greening Government Commitments 2016 to 2020 on mitigating climate change. Operational travel of military personnel is excluded.</p><p>Equivalent figure for 2021-22 is not readily available due to a change in Greening Government Commitments 2021 to 2025 from flight numbers to a carbon emissions reduction target. MOD emissions from domestic flights has reduced from 6,530tCO2e in 2017-18 to 2,460tCO2e in 2021-22.</p><p>Central records are not kept of the individual departure and destination airports. It is designed to give employers the skills, techniques and confidence they need to recruit, retain and develop disabled staff.</p><p> </p><p>The scheme has three levels. To reach Level Three, Disability Confident Leader, an employer must run through a self-assessment of their disabled employment policies and practices, put this self-assessment up for external validation, produce a plan for encouraging and supporting other employers to become Disability Confident, and undertake to use the Voluntary Reporting framework to publicly report on how they support their disabled staff. All of the main Government Departments are now signed up as Disability Confident Leaders including the Ministry of Defence (MOD).</p><p> </p><p>The data regarding the proportion of candidates who declared themselves as having a disability and who applied to MOD under the scheme who were promoted or laterally transferred could only be provided at disproportionate cost.</p><p> </p><p>The table below details the number of staff invited to interview who declared themselves as having a disability and also applied under the Disability Confident Scheme (DCS).
