answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/06/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>The United Kingdom Trade and Investment (UKTI) North East trade team has developed a programme called “Access to Brazil in North East”, which is aimed at support companies in the North East to link with Brazil. It is managed for UKTI by the North East Chamber of Commerce. The programme is also supported by European Regional Development Fund funding. A key element of the programme, as part of a Olympics legacy, is about building a relationship with North East Brazil. When the UK's North East Brazil consul (Recife) was opened, a group of North East companies were part of the launch event. A number of market visits have taken place since then. The next visit by North East companies to Brazil is planned for October 2014, with an event involving the Consul from Recife on 10 July.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>UKTI North East have worked with 165 companies regarding opportunities in the Brazilian market.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>For Angola and Mozambique UKTI has identified an increasing number of opportunities in Africa for North East companies, particularly in the oil and gas sectors. UKTI North East has worked with 25 Companies on opportunities in Angola and 10 companies in Mozambique.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>UKTI North East is working with the lead FCO Minister for Africa, Mark Simmonds, on a visit to North East in late July to promote opportunities in Africa. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/06/2014 answer text <p>The Energy Commissioner's statement predates the EU Energy Security Strategy on 28 May 2014which sets out the position on this issue and is available at:</p><p><a href="http://ec.europa.eu/energy/security_of_supply_en.htm" target="_blank">http://ec.europa.eu/energy/security_of_supply_en.htm</a>.</p><p>The EU Energy Security Strategy does not call for additional gas storage, nor minimum quantities of gas, to be held in storage by Member Storage. Rather, it proposes ‘stress tests' to security of supply shocks which could include, if necessary, increasing gas stocks in Europe amongst other measures.</p><p>We will engage with any stress test process and consider the implications for our approach to gas security arising from the results. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/06/2014 answer text <p>We have no plans to reassess the need for additional gas storage capacity in the UK in the light of events between Russia and Ukraine. The Department commissioned from Redpoint Energy analysis on the case for Government support for additional gas storage in the UK, which was published in September 2013. This cost-benefit analysis did not support intervention to deliver additional gas storage capacity due to a combination of low risk, poor rates of return for the taxpayer, and the risk of unintended consequences within the market.</p><p>Disputes between Russia and Ukraine affecting gas supply to Europe do not change this stance. Previous analysis has demonstrated that the UK gas market is resilient to all but the most unlikely combination of high-demand conditions and supply disruption. BIS is working closely with industry, Job Centre Plus, and Portsmouth Council to support those employees impacted by BAE's decision to close its shipyard in Portsmouth, including providing upskilling and reskilling opportunities.</sub></p><p> </p><p><sub>In the Southampton &amp; Portsmouth City Deal, we announced a £1 million DWP Rapid Response Service that will support those recently made redundant and that Government and local industry will invest £3m in a Marine and Maritime Employer Ownership for skills Programme, responding to the immediate skills needs in small and medium sized enterprises in the advance manufacturing sector. Alongside the City Deal, £5m from the ‘Solent Future' Regional Growth Fund programme is available to support the up-skilling and re-skilling of BAE staff facing redundancy.</sub></p><p> </p><p><sub>The Skills Funding Agency is also working with colleges and training providers in the Solent area to ensure that support is available to any employees at risk of redundancy to update/reskill - supported by £2.5m of Skills Support for Redundancy European Social Fund money. </sub><sub>Additionally the existing UK wide Talent Retention Solution is available to help match skilled workers to engineering jobs in the local area (currently advertising 692</sub><sub>vacancies in the south of England on its website</sub>[1]<sub>) and the</sub><sub> National Careers Service is available to offer free impartial careers advice to those impacted on updating skills or retraining for alternative employment.</sub></p><p> </p><p><sub> </sub></p><p> </p><p><sub>The Solent Local Enterprise Partnership and Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership are involved in detailed negotiations with Government for Growth Deals that will see powers and funding devolved from Whitehall to local partners to drive growth in their area – which covers Hampshire. Solent and EM3 have both put forward proposals to grow the skills – particularly STEM and engineering skills – in their areas. This includes cooperation on exports. The Government of Belgium has expressed an interest in Typhoon as well as other competing aircraft as a potential replacement for their F-16 fleet. UK Trade and Investment have been invited, to participate in preliminary discussions at official level on Typhoon. United Kingdom Trade and Investment (UKTI) officials are working with colleagues across Government, in the partner nations and with Eurofighter GmbH to coordinate a response.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Within UK Government work on Typhoon export campaigns is led by UKTI, but HMG takes a collaborative approach to defence exports and so all campaigns are a cross departmental effort. Information on staffing numbers is not therefore available centrally.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Ministerial responsibility for UKTI rests with my noble Friend the Minister of State for Trade and Investment (Lord Livingston of Parkhead).
