While strongly condemning the ongoing violence perpetrated by the Kurdistan Workers' Party, a proscribed terrorist organisation in the UK, we have encouraged the Turkish authorities to implement the recommendations made by the Committee for the Prevention of Torture following their visit to Imrali prison where Mr Öcalan is detained. In this regard, I welcome the fact that Mr Öcalan was granted access to two lawyers on 2 May. The defence facilities on the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) help to protect people here in Britain and around the world from terrorist threats, organised crime and piracy. Sea-Watch 3 disembarked the 47 rescued migrants on board at Catania (Sicily) on 31 January.
