answer text
Once the UK leaves the EU, the rules governing the EU's representation in the UK, and the UK's representation in the EU, will be based on those governing the UK's and the EU's relationship with third countries. In relation to the EU's status in the UK, it is normal for the EU to conclude an agreement with a third country to underpin its status in that country. It will be important to have in place a framework that allows for the smooth conduct of relations.
more like this

answer text
Delivering the deal negotiated with the EU remains the Government's top priority. This has not changed. As set out in the Political Declaration on the future relationship between the UK and EU, the Government has offered to cooperate closely on defence and security as part of an ambitious Security Partnership. This would be on a case-by-case basis, where of mutual benefit.

While our focus remains on securing agreement with the EU, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, like the rest of Government, is also preparing for "No Deal". In a No Deal scenario, the UK would have to withdraw from Common Security and Defence Policy missions and operations - both military and civilian - and withdraw associated personnel seconded to the EU institutions. The UK would continue to act through other multilateral fora, including through the UN and NATO, and the UK’s cooperation and collaboration on security and defence with individual EU Member States will continue.
more like this

answer text
Maintaining relations with the EU and bilaterally with EU Member States when we leave is a priority. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office's (FCO) network of Posts are the Government's primary tool to influence and engage EU Member States and will play a key role in our future relations with Europe. Staffing levels are kept under constant review to help deliver the Government's objectives and ensure the FCO is adequately resourced. This includes ongoing planning to deploy additional resource across the UK Representation to the EU, the 27 EU Posts and within the UK.
more like this

answer text
Last week the Foreign Secretary attended the Foreign Affairs Council with all his EU counterparts. He also held separate bilateral meetings with some of them. It was clear that the EU and its Member States value highly the UK's contribution to European foreign and security policy and want this to continue. At the EU Informal Minister's meeting this week he will continue to discuss future co-operation with EU counterparts. The ambitious future relationship set out in the Political Declaration will enable this to continue, allowing the UK and our European allies to cooperate closely to tackle the common threats we face and promote the values and interests we share.
more like this

answer text
As set out in the Government’s ‘Foreign Policy, Defence and Development Future Partnership’ paper, the UK is unequivocally committed to European security and will continue to work closely with the EU on external security following exit from the Union. It is the UK’s intention to pursue a close partnership with the EU, including the possibility of the UK continuing to contribute to EU missions of mutual interest. Non-EU personnel in such missions remain under the full command of their national authorities. Our future participation in these missions will be subject to the Withdrawal Agreement negotiations. The UK remains committed to effective engagement in UN peacekeeping, where we have 325 contingent troops deployed as part of the UN Mission in South Sudan and 265 contingent troops deployed as part of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus. We will continue to play an active role in UN peacekeeping missions following our exit from the EU.
more like this
