In relation to the EU's status in the UK, it is normal for the EU to conclude an agreement with a third country to underpin its status in that country. As set out in the Political Declaration on the future relationship between the UK and EU, the Government has offered to cooperate closely on defence and security as part of an ambitious Security Partnership. This would be on a case-by-case basis, where of mutual benefit.</p><p>While our focus remains on securing agreement with the EU, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, like the rest of Government, is also preparing for &quot;No Deal&quot;. In a No Deal scenario, the UK would have to withdraw from Common Security and Defence Policy missions and operations - both military and civilian - and withdraw associated personnel seconded to the EU institutions. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office's (FCO) network of Posts are the Government's primary tool to influence and engage EU Member States and will play a key role in our future relations with Europe. Staffing levels are kept under constant review to help deliver the Government's objectives and ensure the FCO is adequately resourced. He also held separate bilateral meetings with some of them. It was clear that the EU and its Member States value highly the UK's contribution to European foreign and security policy and want this to continue. At the EU Informal Minister's meeting this week he will continue to discuss future co-operation with EU counterparts. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/11/2018 answer text <p>As set out in the Government’s ‘Foreign Policy, Defence and Development Future Partnership’ paper, the UK is unequivocally committed to European security and will continue to work closely with the EU on external security following exit from the Union. It is the UK’s intention to pursue a close partnership with the EU, including the possibility of the UK continuing to contribute to EU missions of mutual interest. Non-EU personnel in such missions remain under the full command of their national authorities. Our future participation in these missions will be subject to the Withdrawal Agreement negotiations. The UK remains committed to effective engagement in UN peacekeeping, where we have 325 contingent troops deployed as part of the UN Mission in South Sudan and 265 contingent troops deployed as part of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus.
