answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/01/2021 answer text <p>Given the new variant of COVID-19, and the new national lockdown, we are redoubling our efforts to ensure that people who sleep rough are kept as safe as possible and that we do everything we can to protect the NHS.  This is backed by a further £10 million to protect rough sleepers and ensure their wider health needs are addressed.</p><p>We have asked all local authorities to ensure that even more rough sleepers are safely accommodated, and will be asking that this opportunity is actively used to make sure that all rough sleepers are registered with a GP where they are not already and are factored into local area vaccination plans, in line with JCVI prioritisation for COVID-19 vaccinations. This will help ensure that the wider health needs of people who sleep rough are addressed, supporting them now and for the future.</p><p>This Government is committed to ending rough sleeping and we have taken huge steps working with local authorities and their partners to protect rough sleepers during the pandemic. This work has not stopped, and through Everyone In, by November we had supported around 33,000 people with nearly 10,000 in emergency accommodation and over 23,000 already moved on into longer-term accommodation.</p> answering member constituency Rochester and Strood answering member printed Kelly Tolhurst question first answered 15/01/2021 09:51:20 answering member 4487 label Biography information for Kelly Tolhurst

The fund will provide a further £15 million to support the ongoing efforts to provide accommodation for rough sleepers during the pandemic. This programme will help areas that need additional support most throughout winter.</p><p>Local authorities who will be receiving Protect Programme funding have been informed. We have written to local authorities to set out how they can access the Cold Weather Fund. Applications should be made by 4 December. <br> <br> We have also announced a £15 million Protect Programme to support the ongoing efforts to provide accommodation for rough sleepers during the coming winter months. This programme will help areas that need additional support most during the restrictions and throughout this period. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/11/2020 answer text <p>The ‘Protect Programme’, the next step in the ongoing targeted support to protect some of the most vulnerable people in our communities from COVID-19, was announced by the Prime Minister on Thursday 5 November. A further £15 million will be provided to support the ongoing efforts to provide accommodation for rough sleepers during the pandemic, and is on top of the previously announced £10 million Cold Weather Fund for all councils to help keep rough sleepers safe this winter.</p><p>Areas with high numbers of rough sleepers will receive extra targeted support to provide accommodation for those currently sleeping rough, prioritising those who are clinically vulnerable. This work will continue throughout the winter until March 2021.</p><p>This builds on the success of the still ongoing ‘Everyone In’ campaign, which is helping to protect thousands of lives during the pandemic - by September it had supported over 29,000 vulnerable people; with over 10,000 in emergency accommodation and nearly 19,000 moved on into settled accommodation.</p><p>This funding is on top of the £91.5 million allocated to 274 councils in September to fund their individual plans for rough sleepers over the coming months. That work is ongoing and has not stopped. In September, we had successfully supported over 29,000 people, with 10,000 in emergency accommodation and nearly 19,000 provided with settled accommodation or move on support.</p><p>We will continue to work with councils, charities and other partners - backed by over £700 million of government funding this year alone - to protect the most vulnerable in society. <br>  <br>This includes a new £10 million Cold Weather Fund to support councils to tackle homelessness this winter and bring forward self-contained accommodation where possible. That work is ongoing and in September, we had successfully supported over 29,000 people, with 10,000 in emergency accommodation and nearly 19,000 provided with settled accommodation or move on support.</p><p>On 13 October, we announced additional winter support, to give local areas the tools they need to support vulnerable rough sleepers this winter.
