answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/10/2017 answer text <p>The Government introduced Rent to Buy to support aspiring tenants on low to middle income into home ownership, enabling them to save for a deposit.</p><p>Funding for Rent to Buy is available from our Affordable Homes Programme 2016-21, which supports the delivery of a wide range of affordable homes with over £9 billion. As set out at Autumn Statement 2016, the programme is fully flexible and sets no ringfences on particular forms of tenure. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/10/2017 answer text <p>We continue to actively engage with and meet a range of organisations from the commercial sector and institutional investors who may have an interest in supporting delivery through the Affordable Homes Programme, which includes Rent to Buy and Shared Ownership.</p><p>The Affordable Homes Programme, through which we have delivered 333,000 new affordable homes since 2010, has been opened up to enable private developers to deliver Shared Ownership.</p><p>We have also set out a long term rent deal for social landlords in England, where increases will be limited to CPI + 1 per cent for 5 years from 2020. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/10/2017 answer text <p>The National Planning Policy Framework sets out strong protections for the Green Belt, and makes clear that a local authority may alter the shape of its Green Belt only in exceptional circumstances, using the Local Plan process. The Framework does not define these ‘exceptional circumstances’. However, in the Housing White Paper, <em>Fixing our broken housing market,</em> we proposed that a local authority should be able to alter a Green Belt boundary when it demonstrates that it has examined all other reasonable options for meeting its identified development needs, including:</p><p>- effective use of suitable brownfield and estate regeneration;</p><p>- the potential offered by under-used land (including surplus public sector land);</p><p>- optimising the density of development; and</p><p>- exploring whether other authorities can help to meet some of the identified development requirement.</p><p>We have been analysing the consultation responses on this proposed clarification, and will announce our conclusions in due course.</p> answering member constituency Reading West answering member printed Alok Sharma question first answered 16/10/2017 10:28:55 answering member 4014 label Biography information for Sir Alok Sharma
