answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/12/2017 answer text <p>36 local authorities have been in touch with my Department regarding work to ensure fire safety in tower blocks.</p><p>My Department has asked nine local authorities to provide more detailed information about the support they require for essential works. Two of these local authorities have provided this detailed information so far. My officials are working with them on their requests to assess what support we might provide.</p><p>My Department has asked the remaining 25 local authorities to contact us again if they consider a building to be unsafe, once they have deemed what measures are essential to make the building fire-safe. The consultation also sought views on what further areas of leasehold reform should be prioritised and why.</p><p>The public consultation, which closed on 19 September, received around 6,000 replies. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/12/2017 answer text <p>The Government’s Clean Growth Strategy, published in October 2017, sets out our ambitions for improving the energy performance of all buildings including new homes and existing properties.</p><p>Energy performance requirements for new homes in building regulations were most recently strengthened in 2010 and 2014. Local and Neighbourhood plans are an essential way to give communities a stronger voice in the design of new housing, and to influence the design of what gets built in their area. As part of the White Paper we also set out our ambition to make clear that design should not be used as a valid reason to object to development where it accords with clear design expectations.</p><p>Following the Housing White Paper consultation, we are now considering the responses to these proposals on design, with a view to publishing a revised National Planning Policy Framework for consultation in early 2018.</p><p>As a further measure to support increased design capacity within local planning authorities, we announced the Planning Delivery Fund on 4 December 2017. question text	To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, what his policy is on the use of greenbelt land in local plans when there are insufficient brownfield sites.

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/11/2017 answer text <p>The National Planning Policy Framework encourages local authorities to prioritise re-use of suitable brownfield land for development, and to adopt Local Plan policies that support the take-up of brownfield. Moreover, each local authority is now legally required to publish a register of local brownfield land by 31 December 2017. These new registers will bring many more sites to the attention of house-builders and investors. However, brownfield sites differ, and not all will be available or in the right place for sustainable redevelopment. It is therefore for each local authority, in consultation with local people, to decide what land to allocate for development, as part of the Local Plan process.</p><p>The Framework sets out strong protections for Green Belt, stating that inappropriate development should be refused permission except in special circumstances. Green Belt boundary may be altered only in exceptional circumstances, using the Plan process. In the Housing White Paper, <em>Fixing our broken housing market,</em> we proposed that a local authority should be able to alter a Green Belt boundary only when it can show that it has examined all other reasonable options for meeting its development needs. Besides brownfield, the options included under-used land; optimising the density of development; and exploring whether other authorities could help. We will announce our conclusions as soon as possible in 2018.</p><p>A local authority can consider any suitable land, but should have regard to all relevant policies in the Framework.
