answer text <p>The Government does not directly hold data on individual lidos and Sport England data cannot be used to estimate the number of temporarily closed facilities at a point in the past.</p><p>The numbers of lidos in operation in England on local authority owned sites from 2010-2019 are as follows:</p><ul><li><p>2010 – 89</p></li><li><p>2011 – 89</p></li><li><p>2012 – 84</p></li><li><p>2013 – 84</p></li><li><p>2014 – 85</p></li><li><p>2015 – 85</p></li><li><p>2016 – 84</p></li><li><p>2017 – 84</p></li><li><p>2018 – 82</p></li><li><p>2019 – 82</p></li></ul><p>As of July 2023, there are 81 lido pools across 63 local authority owned sites in England. answer text <p>The Government is fully committed to supporting and growing women’s sport, from the grassroots through to elite competition. This includes cricket.</p><p>However, we recognise that there is more to do. The Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket report notes that while progress has been made in the women’s game, there are still areas for concern. Clearly the sport needs to reflect carefully on these findings and consider how best to deliver clear and sustained cultural change across cricket, including around equitable treatment of men and women working within the sport. The Government will review the findings of the report and we welcome the ECB’s commitment to bring forward a plan to tackle these serious issues, which must be addressed fully.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The safety of pitches, whether they feature rubber in-fill or not, is the responsibility of individual field owners and operators and those designing, building and maintaining 3G pitches. They have a duty of care to ensure their pitch does not create unnecessary risks to players, match officials and those undertaking maintenance.</p><p>A number of governing bodies, including FIFA, World Rugby and the International Hockey Federation (FIH), have included recommendations from the European Committee for Standardisation into their certification programmes for artificial grass pitches, and the Sports and Play Construction Association (SAPCA) provides guidance on developing and managing sport construction projects and facilities.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government has recently announced that community wealth funds will become the fourth cause for dormant assets funding in England. Secondary legislation to enable dormant assets funding to flow to community wealth funds will be introduced as soon as Parliamentary time allows.</p><p>A community wealth fund will provide pots of funding to hyper-local communities, with spending decisions made by local residents on how to improve their communities and lives. The Government will soon launch a technical consultation on the design of this important new initiative and welcome views on how best to ensure its long-term impact.</p> more like this

answer text <p>As announced in the Spring Budget, the Government will provide over £100 million of support for charities and community organisations in England.</p><p>Around three quarters of the £100 million funding package will be targeted this year towards those frontline organisations most at risk as a result of cost of living pressures, due to increased demand from vulnerable people and higher delivery costs. The other quarter will be used to provide investment in energy efficiency measures to help civil society organisations reduce their future operating costs.</p><p>Officials are working at pace to finalise the delivery time frames and eligibility criteria. answer text <p>The Government is clear on the importance of ensuring public access to swimming pools, as swimming is a great way for people of all ages to stay fit and healthy. The responsibility of providing this access lies at Local Authority level, and the Government continues to encourage Local Authorities to support swimming facilities.
