answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/05/2023 answer text <p>As set out in section 507B of the Education Act 1996, Local Authorities have a statutory duty to ‘secure, so far as is reasonably practicable, sufficient provision of educational and recreational leisure-time activities for young people’. This is funded from the Local Government settlement, the majority of which is un-ringfenced, allowing local authorities to spend on services according to local priorities, including on youth services. The settlement is anticipated to be almost £60 billion this year (FY 23/24) for councils in England - a 9% increase on the previous year.</p><p>In England the government recognises the vital role that youth services and activities play in improving the life chances and wellbeing of young people.The government has committed to a National Youth Guarantee: that by 2025, every young person will have access to regular clubs and activities, adventures away from home and opportunities to volunteer. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/05/2023 answer text <p>In common with all businesses and providers of services, licensed premises are required to comply with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010. This includes making reasonable adjustments for disabled customers and this duty is anticipatory, meaning that service providers must anticipate the adjustments that disabled customers may reasonably need, rather than await requests for such adjustments before acting.</p><p>In line with civil law principles, it is for individuals who feel that they have experienced discrimination - for example by a licensed premises for failing to make a reasonable adjustment - to take advice and if necessary legal action under the 2010 Act, to remedy the situation.</p><p>The Equality Hub expects all sectors, including hospitality, to comply with their legal duties and does not routinely consider the performance of individual sectors. The responsibility of providing this access lies at Local Authority level, and the Government continues to encourage Local Authorities to support swimming facilities.</p><p>At the Budget, we announced a dedicated £63 million support package for swimming pools, which is targeted at addressing cost pressures facing public swimming pool providers. It will also help provide investment in energy efficiency measures to reduce future operating costs and make facilities sustainable in the long-term.</p><p>Details of the eligibility process will be published shortly, however, this fund will focus on those public swimming pool providers whose cost pressures are most acute, leaving them most vulnerable to closure. The Government intends for community and charitable trusts to be eligible to receive this funding. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/05/2023 answer text <p>On 27 April we published our white paper setting out our conclusions and next steps on gambling advertising and sponsorship, as well as other issues in the broad scope of our Gambling Act Review.</p><p>The Gambling Commission requires all marketing activities by gambling operators, including sport sponsorships, to be undertaken in a socially responsible fashion. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/05/2023 answer text <p>There is long-standing legal protection for disabled people under the Equality Act 2010 (the Act). The Act makes it unlawful for an employer to discriminate against a disabled job applicant or employee because of their disability, provided the Act’s definition of disability is met.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Specifically, the Act requires employers to make reasonable adjustments in relation to the disabled job applicant’s assessment and interview process and, once employed, the disabled employee’s job and decisions made in relation to it. These adjustments ensure that disabled applicants or employees are not placed at a substantial disadvantage compared to their non-disabled colleagues. The failure of an employer to make reasonable adjustments for a disabled employee or job seeker, or discounting a job application simply because the applicant is disabled could amount to direct disability discrimination under the Act. Similarly, where an employer is looking to reduce their staff, choosing someone for redundancy simply because they are disabled, may amount to unlawful discrimination.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>However, the Act also recognises the need to strike a balance between the needs of disabled employees and the circumstances of their employers. What is ‘reasonable’ will therefore vary from one employer to another because of factors such as the practicality of making the adjustment, the cost of the adjustment to the employer and the resources available to different employers. In the event of a claim of alleged disability discrimination, it will ultimately be for the courts to decide on a case-by-case basis, what reasonable adjustments should be made for a particular disabled service-user, taking into account all relevant circumstances of the case.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>In terms of employment law, should a person be unfairly dismissed because they have a disability, they can seek redress under the Act for being discriminated against by their employer.
