answer text <p>Government has taken steps to embed beauty, design and placemaking in the planning system in response to the recommendations of the Building Better Building Beautiful Commission. This includes revisions to national planning policy and guidance. The Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill also requires locally developed design codes, which set clear rules about what development must look like. The Office for Place will support communities in turning their visions of beautiful design into a reality.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In January 2021, the Government published a response to the commission’s report welcoming their recommendations and setting out how we would take the vast majority of them forward to embed beauty, design and placemaking in the planning system. Since then, Government has revised the National Planning Policy Framework, published the National Model Design Code and is exploring options to set up an independent Office for Place, to support communities in turning their visions of beautiful design into a reality. We will continue to review how we can further embed the Commission’s recommendations.</p> more like this
