answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/05/2019 answer text <p>We are committed to promoting the Arts and culture outside London, and continue to work closely with the Arts Council to ensure that the whole of the country has access to funding for arts and cultural programmes.</p><p> </p><p>Last year 70% of Arts Council's <ins class="ministerial">lottery</ins><del class="ministerial">total</del> funding was awarded outside London. Between 2018 and 2022 an additional £170 million of National Portfolio Organisation funding will be invested outside London.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the recent Cultural Development Fund has seen £20 million of funding shared between five towns and cities outside of the capital, while programmes such as Creative People and Places and the City of Culture programme continue to focus outside of the capital.</p><p> </p><p>DCMS has also recently announced an additional £4 million of funding for the DCMS/Wolfson Museums and Galleries Improvement Fund. In 2019/20, 35 museums and galleries will benefit from this funding which aims to improve audience experience. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/04/2019 answer text <p>Ministers and officials have regular discussions with their counterparts at DfE on a wide range of issues including music education.</p><p> </p><p>The arts are a key part of the national curriculum and music remains a compulsory subject for 5 – 14 year olds. In support of music education, we have announced almost £500 million of funding in 2016-20 for a diverse portfolio of music and arts education programmes that are designed to improve access to the arts and develop talent across the country.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, this Government's introduction of music education hubs has enhanced existing music education provision offering support to all schools which they can draw on to help them deliver a music curriculum including GCSE music.</p><p> </p><p>In January 2019 DfE announced an additional £1.33 million funding for music education hubs and that DfE and DCMS would work together to refresh the National Plan for Music Education.</p><p> </p><p>In order to ensure all pupils are able to enjoy a high quality music education, DfE are developing and publishing a non-statutory model music curriculum for key stages 1 to 3. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/04/2019 answer text <p>The Government welcomed the recent Engaging Libraries programme, supported by Carnegie UK Trust and the Wellcome Trust, which enabled public library services to pilot creative public engagement projects on health and wellbeing. We also welcome the announcement that a second phase of the programme will be launched later in 2019.</p><p> </p><p>In line with the learning in this report, the Government recognises the important roles that libraries can play in promoting health and wellbeing. In December 2016, the Libraries Taskforce (which was jointly established by DCMS and the Local Government Association) published its Libraries Deliver: Ambition document. This set out seven strategic Outcomes to which libraries contribute and that local and central government is seeking to support and encourage; one of these was helping people to have healthier and happier lives.</p><p> </p><p>The Taskforce includes representatives of Public Health England and NHS England, and has been active in promoting and sharing good practice about a number of the Engaging Libraries projects through its blog on GOV.UK.
