DFID Pakistan officials hold regular meetings with the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board on progress to redesign textbooks to improve their quality and make them more inclusive. I have also discussed the work of the UN Peacekeeping Mission, MINURSO, and the political process with the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, former German President Horst Koehler. This enables around 25,000 young Palestinians to receive an education each year. Additionally, UK support to the UN Relief and Works Agency assists in the provision of basic education to around 500,000 children across the region.
