answer text
Iran's human rights record continues to be of serious concern to the UK, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has designated it as one of its Human Rights Priority Countries. Women do not enjoy the same rights and privileges as men in Iran and continue to face discrimination. We regularly raise the human rights of women with the Iranians at all levels, including at ministerial level, and we continue to take action with the international community through the EU and UN to press Iran to improve its poor record on the human rights of women in Iran.
more like this

answer text
Ensuring access for all to quality essential health and nutrition services is critical to increasing life expectancy and leaving no one behind. DFID assists countries to strengthen their health systems to ensure access to quality health services, medicines, and other essential commodities; save lives and improve women’s and children’s health, including sexual and reproductive health and rights; protect communities from health threats such as disease outbreaks and antimicrobial resistance; prevent and treat malnutrition; and tackle diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis and malaria that cause death and disability. As the second largest donor to the Global Fund, our funding contributed to the distribution of 197 million mosquito nets and the treatment of 108 million cases of malaria in 2017. Our investment to Gavi between 2016 and 2020 will vaccinate 76m children and save 1.4m lives.

more like this

The body carrying out the audits, and the terms of reference vary depending on the DFID programme, however all independent financial audits provide assurance to DFID that funds are spent and managed in line with agreed programme activities. The overall DFID OPTs portfolio is also subject to the regular audit cycle of DFID’s Internal Audit Department and the National Audit Office.
more like this

We consistently urge the Government of Iraq, at all levels, to uphold fundamental human rights including the right to freedom of religion or belief and the rights of all minorities across Iraq. The Prime Minister underlined this message with Prime Minister Abadi during her visit to Iraq in November 2017, and both the Minister of State for the Commonwealth and the UN and I reiterated it during our visits in March and April 2018 respectively. Our Embassy in Baghdad and Consulate-General in Erbil continue to raise the issue with Iraqi and Kurdish officials. We will encourage the new Iraqi Government to support the needs of all of their communities.
more like this

answer text
The UK provides sustainable, lifesaving support to refugees in Lebanon all year round, including through the winter period. UK aid is providing unrestricted cash assistance to meet the basic needs of 60,000 of the most vulnerable Syrian refugees; improved shelter accommodation for over 30,000 vulnerable refugees; legal assistance and advice (e.g. to obtain birth/marriage registration and civil documentation) to over 100,000 individuals; and clean water and sanitation facilities for over 250,000 Syrian and poor Lebanese. Last winter, DFID also provided 380 heating stoves to vulnerable Syrian refugee households in need of specific wintertime support. Since the start of the crisis, DFID has allocated £608 million in humanitarian and development funding to Lebanon.
more like this
