answer text <p>The events DCMS hosted on 4th August set a fitting tone and struck a chord with the public. This month my RT. Hon. Friend, the Prime Minister, announced a memorable and dignified programme of events to commemorate the Gallipoli campaign. Alongside the Department for Communities and Local Government and other partners we are also offering a variety of programmes that are allowing local communities to mark the centenary in their own way, including the restoration of War memorials, school battlefield visits and the honouring of local VC recipients.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Sport England’s flood relief fund has invested £1,195,800 into local sports facilities that were damaged as a result of the winter storms of 2013/14. All eligible applications were successful and the fund is now closed to new applications</p><p> </p><p>(a) £58,905 was allocated to local authorities, and £1,136,895 was allocated to community sports clubs, trusts and charities which operate at a local level.</p><p>(b) All Flood Relief awards made to date have been invested in sports facilities.</p> more like this

answer text <p>On 14 November 2014 the Prime Minster announced three key events to mark the Centenary of the Gallipoli Campaign and honour the fallen, who so bravely fought for their nations.</p><p> </p><p>The Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cape Helles Memorial in Turkey will host a UK-led Commonwealth and Ireland ceremony on 24 April 2015. On 25 April 2015 the National Commemoration of the Centenary of the Gallipoli Campaign and Anzac Day, a special centenary event led by the UK Government, will be held at the Cenotaph in London. On 6 August 2015 the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth will host an event based upon the refurbished HMS M33, the last surviving ship from the campaign.</p><p> </p><p>I am extremely honoured to be part of such celebrations of immense bravery. This Government and DCMS is committed to marking the centenary of the Gallipoli campaign in the First World War with respect uppermost in our minds.</p> more like this

answer text <p><strong>This Government is committed to the sporting industry. I am pleased that Sport England always seeks to leverage in support from local stakeholders where possible. To encourage local investment in sport, Sport England has produced a range of tools which not only demonstrate the economic and social value of sport for local communities, but also the health benefits of physical activity. This data and insight, which shows that sport offers a good return on investment for local communities, is shared with local authorities and other potential investors. Sport England also encourages applicants to its National Lottery award programmes to seek matched funding from local stakeholders such as local authorities, educational institutions, local businesses and sports clubs.</strong></p> more like this
