answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/11/2018 answer text <p>The Government recognises the importance of publishing guidance under s49 of the Modern Slavery Act on the identification of and support for potential victims of modern slavery.</p><p>Whilst there is no duty to consult on the s49 statutory guidance we began working closely with stakeholders across the sector on drafting the guidance shortly after commencement of the Act. This work was paused to accommodate changes to identification and support as part of the reforms to the National Referral Mechanism. Work on the guidance has resumed and we will publish it as soon as we are able. These regulations increase transparency, driving board level discussions and pushing employers to take real action to close the gap.</p><p>We are now working with employers to help them understand their gender pay gaps, and support them to put plans in place to tackle gaps.</p><p>Mandatory gender pay gap reporting is just one of the steps government has taken to tackle the drivers of the gap including:</p><ul><li>introducing Shared Parental Leave and Pay and running a £1.5 million campaign to promote the scheme to eligible parents.</li><li>extending the right to request flexible working and establishing a taskforce working with business to make flexible working a reality for all employees.</li><li>creating a £5 million fund to support women and men who have been out of the labour market for a long period to return to work.</li><li>spending around £6 billion on childcare support by 2019-20, around £3.5 billion of which is planned to be spent on free early education entitlements.</li></ul> answering member constituency Louth and Horncastle answering member printed Victoria Atkins question first answered 22/11/2018 16:05:08 answering member 4399 label Biography information for Victoria Atkins

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/11/2018 answer text <p>Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a crime and it is child abuse. The Government is clear that we will not tolerate a practice that can cause extreme and lifelong suffering to women and girls.</p><p>The Serious Crime Act 2015 introduced a new FGM mandatory reporting duty requiring all regulated health, social care and teaching professionals to report known cases of FGM in under 18s directly to the police.</p><p>The Home Office has published information for the professionals subject to the duty and the police on GOV.uk. This makes clear that upon receipt of a report the police will record the information and initiate a multi-agency response, in line with local safeguarding arrangements.</p><p>To improve understanding of the prevalence of so-called ‘Honour Based Violence’ including FGM, we amended the police Annual Data Requirement (ADR) to allow police forces the opportunity from April 2018 to record on a voluntary basis where a crime has been committed in the context of preserving the ‘honour’ of a family or community. Campaign group 50:50 Parliament’s #AskHerToStand event asks MPs to mentor a woman from their constituency for the day.</p><p>The Government Equalities Office is also hosting a conference to celebrate the centenary of the Parliament (Qualification of Women) Act on 21 November 2018.
