It is a three-year campaign to ensure the UK has the maths and science skills it needs to succeed in a competitive global economy.</p><p>A 2014 CBI/Pearson report found that STEM skills are in widespread demand and nearly two in five firms that need employees with STEM skills and knowledge currently have difficulties recruiting staff.</p><p>It is essential that students leave school as fully-rounded individuals, with experience of a broad and balanced curriculum to prepare them for life in modern Britain. If any partner in the household has income over £50,000 then they are required to register for the Higher Income Child Benefit Charge regardless of whether or not they are the biological parent.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>This approach withdraws Child Benefit from those on high incomes, whilst leaving the majority of claimants completely unaffected by the changes. This will eliminate the two highest rates of air passenger duty charged on flights to countries over 4,000 miles from Britain, cutting tax for millions of passengers travelling to China, India, Brazil and many other emerging markets. The OBR's most recent forecast (published at Budget 2014) is for UK GDP to grow by 2.7 per cent this year and 2.3 per cent in 2015.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The OBR forecast general government employment will fall by 0.1 million in 2014 and 2015.
