answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/07/2019 answer text <p>The UK Government has introduced mandatory sustainability criteria for biomass for heat and power generation. These are some of the most stringent criteria in Europe.</p><p>The sustainability criteria ensure biomass reduces carbon emissions and is sourced sustainably. The criteria include a minimum 60% lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions saving, compared to emissions from an EU fossil fuel comparator for electricity. The calculation requires transport, growing and processing emissions to be included. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/07/2019 answer text <p>The Government believes that carbon capture, usage &amp; storage (CCUS) has a potentially important role to play in meeting the UK’s climate targets and supporting our Industrial Strategy. CCUS can add value to the economy and help tackle hard to decarbonise sectors.</p><p> </p><p>We recognise that bioenergy with carbon capture and storage could be a key technology in helping us achieve net zero through generation of negative emissions.
