answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/09/2018 answer text <p>We launched the careers strategy last year which recognises that the UK’s fast-growing creative industries offer careers in a wide range of roles.</p><p> </p><p>Information on the careers in the creative arts is available from a number of sources. The National Careers Service provides independent, professional advice on careers, skills and the labour market.</p><p> </p><p>Employers and professional bodies in the creative arts sector can sign up to ‘Inspiring the Future’, run by the Education and Employers charity. This free programme allows volunteers to visit maintained schools to talk to pupils about their job. This will raise the profile of various careers within the creative arts sector.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Careers and Enterprise Company is making sure that every young person has access to inspiring encounters with the world of work, including work placements, work experience and other employer-based activities. We have also provided £5 million to the National Apprenticeship Service, who have widened their remit to offer an advice and support service for employers. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/09/2018 answer text <p>We have put in place a range of measures to make sure that employers are supported to offer T Level industry placements. This includes the National Apprenticeships Service who will provide a dedicated and fully trained team of account managers to provide advice and support to employers, and broker links with local education providers delivering industry placements during the current academic year. Education providers are receiving capacity and delivery funding in 2018-19 and 2019-20 to support their work with employers to deliver industry placements. In academic year 2017/18, we ran a pilot to test potential models for industry placements and understand delivery challenges and how to overcome them. This ran with 21 post 16 providers and up to 2000 students were involved with over 1000 employers offering placements in the 2017/18 academic year. The department has recently published a suite of online guidance and materials based on the learnings from this pilot to assist both providers and employers in delivering placements. We are continuing to provide disadvantage funding (over £500 million in 2017/18) and other uplifts in addition to the base rate of funding for programmes that are more expensive to deliver.</p><p>In addition we have announced funding increases to strengthen education for 16 to 19 year olds in key respects. We are offering further funding to support institutions to grow participation in level 3 maths (an extra £600 for every additional student), and to pilot extra support for post-16 basic maths.</p><p>We are making a substantial investment in technical education for 16 to 19 year olds, rising eventually to an additional £500 million a year when T Levels are fully rolled out. Our commitment to the 16 to 19 sector has contributed to the current record high proportion of 16 and 17 year olds who are participating in education or apprenticeships since consistent records began.</p><p>The department works closely with HM Treasury in considering spending on 16 to 19 education. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/09/2018 answer text <p>Our reforms to apprenticeships will deliver benefits for individuals, businesses and the economy; helping to address skills shortages by making sure growth of higher quality apprenticeships meet the needs of employers.</p><p> </p><p>Research published in June 2015 demonstrated the high level of return on investment delivered by the apprenticeships programme. On average, the economic benefits measured over the rest of the learner’s working life for a Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeship start are estimated as £61,000 and £88,000 respectively.</p><p> </p><p>In May 2018, we published our progress report on the apprenticeships reform programme which provides our latest assessment of its benefits. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/09/2018 answer text <p>There are no plans to amend the eligibility criteria for the basic maths Centres for Excellence programme. The Centres for Excellence programme will build on the success of the Maths Hubs model in schools, adapting it to improve the quality of teaching post-16.</p><p> </p><p>The eligibility criteria is for institutions to have a minimum of 250 maths students with prior attainment below a grade 4 included in the maths progress measure. This will make sure institutions have a substantial number of students at the end of their 16-19 study programme who have directly benefited from the programme as they work towards achieving a GCSE standard pass in maths. We view this as an important criterion as we trial teaching approaches and evaluate their impact on the quality of teaching and learning over the length of the study programme to inform a wider rollout.</p><p> </p><p>We have allowed and have actively encouraged institutions to partner up to be Centres for Excellence through consortium bids.
