answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/09/2018 answer text <p>There have been 64,830 apprenticeship starts in Health, Public Services and Care, reported to date, in the first three quarters of the 2017 to 2018 academic year (August 2017 to April 2018) in England, the data for which can be accessed at the link below: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/further-education-and-skills-statistical-first-release-sfr" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/further-education-and-skills-statistical-first-release-sfr</a>.</p><p>We want to increase the number of nursing apprenticeships and now have a complete apprentice pathway from entry level to postgraduate advanced clinical practice in nursing. This will support people from all backgrounds to enter a nursing career in the NHS.</p><p>In the 2017/18 academic year reported to date (from August 2017 to April 2018), there have been 260 apprenticeship starts recorded for the Registered Nurse standard (degree apprenticeship approved for delivery on 9 May 2017), and 640 apprenticeship starts recorded for the Nursing Associate standard (Level 5 apprenticeship standard approved for delivery on 20 November 2017). There were no starts on these standards in the 2016/17 academic year. Full final year data for the academic year 2017 to 2018 will be available in November 2018.</p><p>We are working closely with employers, Health Education England and ministers in the Department of Health and Social Care to make sure the NHS is fully supported to recruit apprentices, both in nursing and in a range of other occupations. Whilst we do want to see an increasing number of apprenticeship starts, we will not sacrifice quality for quantity.</p><p>New, employer-designed standards are replacing the existing frameworks which were often not fit-for-purpose. Starts on these standards continue to grow; latest data on apprenticeships in England show there have been 119,500 starts on standards in the first three quarters of the 2017/2018 academic year; more than ten times higher than the 11,000 reported at this time last year (2016/17). The National Careers Service provides independent, professional advice on careers, skills and the labour market.</p><p> </p><p>Employers and professional bodies in the creative arts sector can sign up to ‘Inspiring the Future’, run by the Education and Employers charity. This free programme allows volunteers to visit maintained schools to talk to pupils about their job. This will raise the profile of various careers within the creative arts sector.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Careers and Enterprise Company is making sure that every young person has access to inspiring encounters with the world of work, including work placements, work experience and other employer-based activities. We have also provided £5 million to the National Apprenticeship Service, who have widened their remit to offer an advice and support service for employers. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/09/2018 answer text <p>We have put in place a range of measures to make sure that employers are supported to offer T Level industry placements. This includes the National Apprenticeships Service who will provide a dedicated and fully trained team of account managers to provide advice and support to employers, and broker links with local education providers delivering industry placements during the current academic year. Education providers are receiving capacity and delivery funding in 2018-19 and 2019-20 to support their work with employers to deliver industry placements. In academic year 2017/18, we ran a pilot to test potential models for industry placements and understand delivery challenges and how to overcome them. This ran with 21 post 16 providers and up to 2000 students were involved with over 1000 employers offering placements in the 2017/18 academic year. The department has recently published a suite of online guidance and materials based on the learnings from this pilot to assist both providers and employers in delivering placements.
