As part of this, we are committed to ensuring that high quality apprenticeships are accessible to people of all ages and from all backgrounds.</p><p> </p><p>Apprenticeships are paid jobs with training and can be used to train and upskill existing employees as well as a means of recruiting new staff.</p><p> </p><p>It is important that people of all ages and backgrounds are able to achieve the long term benefits associated with completing an apprenticeship in terms of increased wages and career progression.</p><p> </p><p>We are providing additional funding to support young people and those from disadvantaged areas to access apprenticeships, recognising where the costs of supporting an apprentice are higher. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/07/2017 answer text <p>The Apprenticeship Levy will be paid by all UK employers with an annual pay bill of over £3 million and is charged at 0.5% of an employer’s annual pay bill.</p><p>The Apprenticeship Levy supports our commitment to reaching 3 million apprenticeship starts in England by 2020. Employers in England who pay the levy will have an apprenticeship account. We will be replacing 13,000 existing technical qualifications with new qualifications, known as T-levels, across fifteen routes in subjects including Heath and Social Care, Legal, Finance and Accounting and Social Care. The Government is creating specialist National Colleges to deliver higher level specialist technical skills in priority areas such as digital skills and to support national infrastructure projects such as HS2 and the New Institutes of Technology will deliver engineering and STEM skills.
