Friend, the Secretary of State for Education, has confirmed that she wants to see improvements to the quality of careers advice and guidance available to young people. Ensuring that many more schools and employers work together to provide excellent support is central to this. The Department for Education is consulting to examine what further steps it can take to improve provision. Friend the then Minister for Skills and Enterprise (Matthew Hancock) met with the four nation Ministers including Dr Stephen Farry, MLA, Minister for Employment and Learning, on 19 June 2014.</p><p>He updated Ministers on the review of apprenticeships and trailblazer reforms in England.</p><p>Dr Stephen Farry informed Ministers that Northern Ireland would be producing a new strategy on apprenticeships and this was formally announced on 24 June 2014.</p><p>Ministers agreed that an official-level group would be beneficial and my Rt. Hon. Friend. the now Minister for Business and Energy Matthew Hancock suggested extending the remit of the UK strategic policy forum to include apprenticeships. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/11/2014 answer text <p>Definitive estimates of participation in education, training and employment for young people aged 16-18 are published by the Department for Education in a Statistical First Release (SFR) each June.</p><p>These estimates cannot be broken down by ethnic group. However, local authorities in England collect information on 16-18 year olds who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) in their area and their ethnic group, which they report to the Department for Education through the National Client Caseload Information System.</p><p>This information shows that, at the end of June 2014, 11.9% of young people NEET were from a non-white ethnic group, compared with 17.7% of the 16-18 cohort as a whole. We are taking a number of steps, including promoting project bank accounts, through Government procurement. More widely, the Industrial Strategy for Construction committed to developing a construction supply chain payment charter, which was published on 22 April. The Charter sets out 11 “Fair Payment Commitments” including a commitment to reduce payment terms to a supply chain to 30 days from January 2018.
