answer text
The information requested is not collated centrally and could only be provided at disproportionate cost. These services are commissioned locally by DWP managers without recourse to the central Commercial Team. Although spend is centrally recorded, together with the appropriate cost centre, the exact details of each associated project and the benefits arising are not. This request would require some research, extending over a number of years, to link each invoiced line item to a cost centre owner, and thence to whoever commissioned the work.
more like this

answer text
The government is committed to supporting vulnerable children and families. Parental conflict can have a damaging effect on children, by significantly increasing their risk of poor social, emotional and educational outcomes. In the light of the strength of the damaging impact of parental conflict on children, we will soon be launching a new programme to embed proven parental conflict provision in local areas. As announced in Improving Lives: Helping Workless Families, the programme will have a strong emphasis on children in workless families as they face triple the risk of experiencing parental conflict compared with those where parents are in work. We will work with the Troubled Families programme to support local areas to improve the effectiveness of their family services to address this issue, drawing on the lessons from our Local Family Offer trial.

£17.5m was spent on relationship support services between April 2015 and March 2017. In April 2017 a further £30m was made available for the period April 2017- March 2020 for the new programme to reduce parental conflict. Precise expenditure from this allocation depends on the quality of proposals received by DWP from suppliers.

answer text
Every local authority must protect and promote the welfare of children in need in its area. To do this it must work with the family to provide support services that will enable children to be brought up within their own families. The local authority can provide a range of services for children in need, which can include advice, guidance and counselling. These services are normally provided free of charge. In addition, DWP funds the provision of relationship support services - this includes couple counselling delivered by a range of voluntary sector providers including Relate, Marriage Care and Tavistock Relationships.

more like this

answer text
The Child Maintenance Reforms are designed to support parents to make collaborative child maintenance arrangements where possible. This is why cases within the Child Support Agency are being closed rather than automatically moved to the Child Maintenance Service; at this point parents have the ability to choose the statutory service or make a family based arrangement. Applications to the Child Maintenance Service are subject to an application fee (except where domestic violence is reported) and on-going charges for collect and pay. The Child Maintenance Options service supports parents to make the right choice about child maintenance for their individual circumstances; this may be outside the statutory scheme through a family based arrangement. Our review of charging and its impact was published in August 2017.
more like this
