On 25 February 2015, we announced that central government spent an unprecedented £11.4 billion with SMEs in 2013-14, a record 26.1% of direct and indirect spend. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/03/2015 answer text <p>The Government recognises that some people do find unsolicited mail to be a nuisance, which is why we have ensured that there are preference services in place for anyone who wants to stop receiving such mail.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>There are currently two ‘opt out’ services run by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA): the Mailing Preference Service (MPS) will stop addressed mail and the “Your Choice” preference service will stop unaddressed mailings. More information about these services can be found on the MPS website (<a href="http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/" target="_blank">http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/</a>).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Royal Mail also runs its own door-to-door ‘opt out’ service, though this will only stop those unaddressed mailings delivered by Royal Mail. More information about Royal Mail’s service can be found on its website (<a href="http://www.royalmail.com/" target="_blank">www.royalmail.com</a>).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>By registering with all three services, consumers can stop the vast majority of unsolicited mail being received. Registration is free. The Government has made provisions in the Consumer Rights Bill to allow for a widened pool of judges to sit as Chairs of the Competition Appeals Tribunal. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/03/2015 answer text <p>The Department’s standard terms and conditions requires that where a contactor/supplier uses a sub-contractor a provision is included which requires the contractor/supplier to pay for any goods or services within 30 days of the contractor/supplier receiving a correct invoice from the sub-contractor.</p><p> </p><p>The Department fully supports the need for its suppliers to pay sub-contractors promptly and has been working closely with the Cabinet Office to strengthen the public procurement regulations to ensure that suppliers do pay promptly and report accordingly.</p><p> </p><p>Departmental Agencies have been asked to respond separately and information on non-departmental public bodies is not held centrally.
