We are investing in new power generation technologies that are diversifying our electricity generation and reducing carbon emissions while ensuring security of supply.</p><p> </p><p>Since 2010, supported by our investment of more than £52bn, renewable capacity has quadrupled, while the UK has had the highest rate of decarbonisation of any G20 country in 2016[i]. A further £160m to extend the programme and deliver step-free access at an additional 68 stations. In addition, whenever infrastructure works are carried out at stations, they must comply with the relevant UK and EU accessibility standards. Thameslink trains will enter passenger service this spring and IEP trains will enter service on the Great Western Main Line from 2017 and the East Coast Main Line from 2018. Hitachi Rail’s Class 800/801 IEP train manufacturing facility was opened by the Prime Minister on 3 September, IEP depot construction continues as planned and testing of the three IEP test trains continues on the East Coast Main Line. In terms of Thameslink, Siemens has delivered the first two Class 700 trains and the Secretary of State opened the new Thameslink Programme Three Bridges traincare facility on 15 October. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/02/2015 answer text <p>The Department’s senior officials attend four weekly meetings with the train operators senior management team, where all aspects of performance under the franchise agreement can be scrutinised and challenged. In terms of Govia Thameslink Railway's (GTR's) delivery of services to passengers, while operational performance on its Great Northern route is robust, performance on its Thameslink route has been poor.</p><p> </p><p>Ministers and officials have held a number of meetings with Network Rail, GTR and the Office of Rail Regulation to discuss the poor performance on the Thameslink route. This has resulted in GTR and Network Rail publishing a high level improvement plan on their websites which sets out the actions they are taking to turn things around. They have also committed to updating the plan by the end of February with specific commitments on the outputs that will be delivered. Furthermore, the Department has secured a commitment that Network Rail and GTR shall provide a monthly report on progress towards their committed outputs and publish this on their websites, so that passengers have transparency on what is being delivered.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is determined to hold GTR and Network Rail to account for the delivery of their joint initiatives to improve Thameslink performance and, ultimately, provide the levels of service that passengers deserve.</p><p> </p> answering member constituency Devizes answering member printed Claire Perry question first answered 25/02/2015 11:21:58 answering member 3974 label Biography information for Claire Perry
