answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/01/2024 answer text <p>Prepayment meters can continue to play a role in the market, however it is important that the rules around their use are sufficient to protect consumers and are properly enforced. Involuntary installations should only ever be a last resort for managing customer debts.</p><p> </p><p>Ofgem implemented new rules regarding the involuntary installation of prepayment meters on 8th November and suppliers must refrain from all involuntary installations for high-risk customers. The Government will continue to work closely with Ofgem and industry to see that the new rules lead to positive changes for consumers and won't hesitate to intervene again if necessary.</p> answering member constituency Derby North answering member printed Amanda Solloway question first answered 16/01/2024 11:45:10 answering member 4372 label Biography information for Amanda Solloway

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/11/2023 answer text <p>The outlook for energy prices has improved significantly since the 2022 Autumn Statement, with the Ofgem price cap falling 55% since its peak earlier this year.</p><p><br> The Government is providing Cost of Living Payments to UK households on eligible means tested benefits, including over 6 million people across the UK eligible ‘extra-costs’ disability benefits’, for those who face wider affordability challenges. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/04/2023 answer text <p>The Government expanded the Warm Home Discount scheme to support more low-income and vulnerable households. The Government published impact assessments when consulting and publishing the Government’s response.</p><p>To be eligible for a rebate under Core Group 2, a household must be in receipt of a qualifying means-tested benefit and living in a property which we have estimated to have relatively high heating costs. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/04/2023 answer text <p>The Department estimated that around 2 million people in the UK use alternative fuels and are eligible for this payment.</p><p>The Alternative Fund for the Alternative Fuel Payment, the element which requires an application, launched recently on 6 March and early data is still being collected. Electricity suppliers, who deliver the automatic enrolment element of the scheme, recently provided MPAN-level delivery data to the Government.
