The secondee was based at the Head Office of Kids Company at Blackfriars Road, London, SE1, for a period of 13 months. The costs of the secondment were met in full by the department.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The terms of reference were set out in the advertisement for the secondment and we have placed a copy of this in the House Library.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The College of Social Work is an organisation independent from government and the decision to close the College was taken by the College Board, not government.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Despite plans for the government to continue funding in 2015-16, the College has been unable to secure sufficient membership from the profession and it is operating at a substantial loss.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>To date, the Department for Education has allocated a total of £4,251,274 to the College. The government has provided over £8.2 million of grant and contract funding since 2009. No decision has yet been made as to which organisations will assume the functions provided by the College of Social Work after its closure.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Local authorities are responsible for ensuring the quality of all their children’s social care functions, and remain accountable for the quality of all such provision should they choose to delegate such functions to a third party provider. Ofsted inspect all local authority provision, including any providers to which functions are delegated. The Secretary of State for Education can, and does, intervene using her discretionary powers under the Education Act 1996 (as applied by section 50 of the Children Act 2004), should any such provision fall below expected standards.</p><p> </p> more like this
