answer text <p>The Trade and Cooperation Agreement is the first free trade agreement the EU has reached based on zero tariffs and quotas and is fantastic news for the North East. The Trade and Cooperation Agreement includes Rules of Origin that frequently exceed what the EU has previously agreed. For example, innovative rules to support trade in electric vehicles will benefit our world-leading car manufacturers including in the North East.</p> more like this

We have longstanding, deep relationships with Vietnam which will always allow HM Government to have open discussions on these issues.</p><p> </p><p>The United Kingdom’s priority was to seek to replicate the effects of existing EU trading arrangements with Vietnam, as far as possible, into a bilateral arrangement by the end of the Transition Period. This did not include replicating the separate EU-Vietnam Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. Instead a refreshed UK-Vietnam Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed on 30 September 2020, reflecting our close partnership.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department for International Trade (DIT) led engagement with the Welsh Government during the passage of the Trade (Disclosure of Information) Bill.</p><p> </p><p>DIT and the Cabinet Office have committed to working closely with devolved administrations. This will ensure that relevant analysis and information obtained through Clause 2 can be shared to support the delivery of devolved functions. This has been communicated at Ministerial level to devolved administrations.</p><p> </p><p>Our close working with Welsh Government colleagues led them to recommend legislative consent during the passage of the Trade (Disclosure of Information) Bill, and to the Welsh Parliament to grant a legislative consent motion.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>This agreement creates a new relationship between the UK and the EU, a relationship based on free trade and friendly cooperation between sovereign equals. The UK will be a global champion for free trade – benefitting businesses, reducing costs for consumers, and helping the poorest countries in the world achieve genuine economic independence.</p><p>The Government has been clear that leaving the Single Market and Customs Union will result in new customs processes for businesses trading with the EU. We are moving to a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) relationship, and Rules of Origin are a standard part of all FTAs. We worked closely with industry throughout negotiations to secure modern and appropriate Rules of Origin that support tariff free trade with the EU across all sectors. This includes full bilateral cumulation with the EU, which is critical to protecting our highly integrated supply chains, as well as sectoral rules that reflect the nature of UK-EU trade.</p> more like this
