answer text <p>In this answer, we define emergency repairs as reactive maintenance. Planned and preventative maintenance (PPM) are preventative measures to help negate emergency repairs. Reactive maintenance relates to approximately 30,000 annual calls for day to day repairs, such as lighting and heating issues, sticking doors, and worn carpet. Planned and preventative maintenance relates to a mix of planned statutory maintenance, such as testing of lifts and fire alarms, and preventative maintenance, such as servicing of heating systems or catering equipment etc.</p><p>In addition, much work is underway across the Parliamentary Estate to keep our buildings operational. Our focus through these ongoing projects, is to provide a safe working environment, while making sure that the work of Parliament can continue without interruption. The cost of these repairs on the parliamentary estate in each year since 2010 has been:</p><table><tbody><tr><td><p> </p></td><td><p><strong>2010/11</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>2011/12</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>2012/13</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>2013/14</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>2014/15</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>2015/16</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>2016/17</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>2017/18</strong></p></td></tr><tr><td><p><strong>Description</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>£,000</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>£,000</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>£,000</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>£,000</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>£,000</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>£,000</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>£,000</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>£,000</strong></p></td></tr><tr><td><p>Reactive Maintenance</p></td><td><p>2,891.3</p></td><td><p>2,571.3</p></td><td><p>2,244.9</p></td><td><p>2,124.8</p></td><td><p>1,718.8</p></td><td><p>1,732.7</p></td><td><p>1,779.0</p></td><td><p>2,535.4</p></td></tr><tr><td><p>Planned Maintenance<br> (PPM)</p></td><td><p>6,413.9</p></td><td><p>7,017.1</p></td><td><p>6,703.8</p></td><td><p>6,291.0</p></td><td><p>6,401.2</p></td><td><p>6,669.1</p></td><td><p>6,555.1</p></td><td><p>5,746.8</p></td></tr><tr><td><p>Minor Maintenance<br> Works</p></td><td><p>-</p></td><td><p>2,715.1</p></td><td><p>3,684.2</p></td><td><p>4,698.2</p></td><td><p>11,468.0</p></td><td><p>7,294.1</p></td><td><p>9,524.1</p></td><td><p>4,044.9</p></td></tr><tr><td><p>Large Maintenance<br> works</p></td><td><p>11,547.6</p></td><td><p>27,087.3</p></td><td><p>25,000.0</p></td><td><p>33,000.0</p></td><td><p>44,000.0</p></td><td><p>64,000.0</p></td><td><p>83,000.0</p></td><td><p>114,000.0</p></td></tr><tr><td><p><strong>Subtotal </strong></p></td><td><p><strong>20,852.8</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>39,390.8</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>37,632.9</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>46,114.0</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>63,588.0</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>79,695.9</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>100,858.2</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>126,327.1</strong></p></td></tr><tr><td><p>Staff to deliver the<br> above</p></td><td><p>7,729.4</p></td><td><p>7,866.8</p></td><td><p>7,942.2</p></td><td><p>8,936.4</p></td><td><p>8,179.2</p></td><td><p>8,179.3</p></td><td><p>8,043.2</p></td><td><p>8,064.5</p></td></tr><tr><td><p><strong>Total Costs</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>28,582.2</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>47,257.6</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>45,575.1</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>55,050.4</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>71,767.2</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>87,875.2</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>108,901.4</strong></p></td><td><p><strong>134,391.6</strong></p></td></tr></tbody></table><p>I would be happy to arrange for the hon.
