answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/06/2015 answer text <p>Badgers culled under licence in Somerset and Gloucestershire in 2013 and 2014 were not routinely tested for tuberculosis (TB), since this research had already been carried out under the Random Badger Cull Trial (RBCT).</p><p>However, testing of badgers between 1998 and 2005 via the Randomised Badger Culling Trial and Road Traffic Accident surveys provided evidence of the typical prevalence of TB in badgers in areas of high incidence of TB in cattle. TB was found in around one third of all badgers in these areas.</p><p>During the culls, four badger carcasses were tested on occasion at the specific request of landowners. The tests were carried out by independent veterinary surgeons. We are championing British produce overseas using the GREAT campaign, supporting companies to increase their exports and opening new markets for animal and animal products including poultry, pigmeat and dairy.</p><p>We are encouraging UK producers to raise the profile of unique regional products and boost their sales under the EU Protected Food Name scheme. We are pressing for better country of origin labelling in Europe, particularly for dairy, so that our consumers can identify and buy quality British produce. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/03/2015 answer text <p>Defra officials have been fully engaged with the EU Commission’s proposal to reform the EU School Milk Scheme and have participated in a number of technical working groups.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Work on this dossier has become bogged down on a number of important issues, including Member State concerns about the legal basis for the proposals, the nature of their objectives and scope, and the main financial provisions. The Commission is currently carrying out a review and the department will engage constructively with this process. The latest data available on the number of dairy farms in England is for the period from December 2013 to December 2014 and is shown below. The change in the number of farms will include new holdings which are registered with dairy cattle, holdings that have ceased to have cattle and holdings that have merged together.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The number of dairy cows on these dairy farms is also shown below.
