answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/11/2018 answer text <p>The UK is a world leader in the fight to stamp out the brutal practice of forced marriage, with our joint Home Office and Foreign and Commonwealth Office Forced Marriage Unit (FMU) leading efforts to combat it both at home and abroad. We made forced marriage a criminal offence in 2014 to better protect victims and send a clear message that this abhorrent practice is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated in the UK. To date, there have been four convictions under the offence.</p><p>Due to the small numbers of referrals, charges and convictions this information is not available by geographic location to prevent the risk of victims being identified. To date, there have been four convictions under the offence.</p><p>The most recent Crown Prosecution Service Violence Against Women and Girls report shows that the volume of forced marriage referrals from the police to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) fell from 90 in 2015–16 to 56 in 2016–17, with a corresponding fall in the volume of defendants charged from 57 to 36. The volume of prosecutions completed fell from 53 in 2015–16 to 44 in 2016–17. The volume of convictions stayed steady at 32, as in 2015–16. This Government’s approach to them remains clear - we must prevent drug use in our communities and support people through treatment and recovery<strong>. </strong></p><p>Our Drug Strategy, published in July 2017, sets out a balanced approach which brings together police, health, community and global partners to tackle the illicit drug trade, protect the most vulnerable and help those with a drug dependency to recover and turn their lives around. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/07/2018 answer text <p>Statistics on shoplifting offences reported to the police are recorded in the crime statistics published by the Office for National Statistics. The statistics can be accessed via their website at <a href="http://www.ons.gov.uk/" target="_blank">www.ons.gov.uk</a>.</p><p>We encourage all retailers to report shoplifting to the police whenever it occurs, so that these crimes can be investigated and, where appropriate, the offenders brought to justice.</p><p>It must, however, remain a matter for chief constables and Police and Crime Commissioners, as operational leaders and elected local representatives, to decide how best to deploy resources to respond to these crimes, alongside other local priorities. At the national level, the police, Police and Crime Commissioners, relevant government departments and the retail sector are all represented on the National Retail Crime Steering Group, which ensures a collaborative response to all the crimes that affect the retail sector. The GEO leads work on policy relating to women, sexual orientation and transgender equality, and has responsibility for a range of equalities legislation.</p><p>All Government departments publish single departmental plans, which for the first time have also included equalities objectives.
