answer text <p>Equality Ministers are fully aware of their responsibilities under the public sector equality duty to factor equality impacts into decision-making and do so on all policy including as regards conversion practices, where we are closely considering responses to the public consultation. Such assessments are not generally published.</p><p>Equality Hub Ministers and officials have engaged widely on the issue of conversion practices with victims, LGBT groups, healthcare professionals, faith groups, groups advocating for sex-based rights and parliamentarians, as well as other Government departments including the Department of Health and Social Care. This engagement has been a key part of developing proposals and we continue to work closely with stakeholders.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We expect all housing developers to deliver good quality housing, to deliver it on time, and to treat house buyers fairly. It is disappointing when new homes are not completed on time. For most new build homes purchased off-plan, the exchange date may be a long time before completion as the home. New build home contracts typically have a long-stop date, which is an estimated completion date and the rights and responsibilities of the homebuyer and developer should be set out in the contract, including the circumstances a deposit and other money is returned.</p><p>The Government is committed to improving redress for new build homebuyers when things go wrong. In July 2021, the UK Government introduced the Building Safety Bill into Parliament, which includes provision for the New Homes Ombudsman scheme to provide dispute resolution to, and determine complaints by, buyers of new build homes against developers. This will include the pre-completion period of new build homes. Once arrangements for the scheme have been made, developers will be required to become and remain members of the scheme.</p><p>Where the ombudsman determines a dispute in favour of the complainant, they may order redress such as paying compensation, and where this is not complied with, the scheme may expel the member.</p><p>To ensure that developers know what is expected of them and homebuyers know what to expect, the Bill includes provision for a developers' code of practice about the standards of conduct and standards of quality of work expected of the schemes members'.</p>

answer text <p>All people living in social housing must be treated with fairness and respect, and their complaints – including those of racism - must be handled effectively by registered providers. <br> <br> The Regulator of Social Housing has four consumer standards governing landlord services, which landlords are required to meet. The Tenant Involvement and Empowerment Standard requires providers to treat all tenants with fairness and respect, have an approach to complaints that is clear, simple and accessible, and ensure that complaints are resolved promptly, politely and fairly. <br> <br> Following the commitments made in the Charter for Social Housing Residents, we are working with the Regulator of Social Housing to create a strong, proactive consumer regulatory regime. We will give the Regulator the powers to proactively monitor and drive compliance with the consumer standards, with new tenant satisfaction measures on issues including complaints handling. The Regulator will also revise the standards to ensure they are fit for purpose. <br> <br> We will introduce legislation as soon as is practicable to bring forward the new consumer regime.</p>

answer text <p>In April 2020, the Government published the workplan for the technical review of the statutory guidance to the Building Regulations with regards to fire safety (Approved Document B). This technical review includes research on the means of escape in blocks of flats.
