answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/12/2023 answer text <p>The Government remains absolutely committed to taking action to tackle abhorrent conversion 'therapy' practices. These acts are aimed at changing someone else's identity, whether that be to or from being LGBT, and have no place in UK society.</p><p>Equality Ministers and officials have been carefully considering the issue, including all of the responses we received to our public consultation. We must also protect free speech and allow open and tolerant discussion.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The UK has a robust legislative framework to protect the rights of trans people, including the Gender Recognition Act 2004. Recently, the government modernised the process for obtaining a gender recognition certificate by reducing the fee and moving the application process online.
