answer text <p>Equality Hub Ministers and officials conduct regular engagement with stakeholders across a wide range of topics in the LGBT area. Most recently, these have included hate crime and hate speech, homelessness, healthcare, conversion practices and gender recognition. This engagement consists of, but is not limited to, holding conversations with victims and survivors, LGBT groups, healthcare professionals, faith groups, groups advocating for sex-based rights and parliamentarians.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>In 2018, the then government published the LGBT Action Plan which contained a broad range of commitments designed to improve the lives of people at home and abroad, and the way that public services work for them. Significant progress was made in delivering those commitments including taking action to tackle bullying in schools, and taking steps to ensure the safety of LGBT people at home and abroad.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>This Government is determined to continue to take meaningful steps to advance opportunity for all LGBT people in the UK and beyond, including banning conversion practices. More details on this Government’s priorities will be shared in due course.</p><p> </p><p>In March 2019, the Government at the time appointed a 12 person LGBT Advisory Panel for a period of two years to advise on LGBT policies. In April 2021, that two year period came to an end and the Panel ceased to operate.</p><p><strong></strong><br><br></p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK has a proud history of LGBT rights with a comprehensive and robust framework of legislative protection.</p><p>We have already taken great strides, including:</p><ul><ul><li><p>reducing the cost of applying for a Gender Recognition Certificate and moving the application process online</p></li><li><p>extending same-sex marriage to Northern Ireland</p></li><li><p>setting out our plan to end new HIV cases by 2030, and ending the ban on HIV+ people joining the UK armed services; and</p></li><li><p>setting out tailored action to address LGBT homelessness in the Rough Sleeping Strategy, such as improving how data on LGBT homelessness is collected and extending investment into coordinated local rough sleeping services.</p></li></ul></ul><p>I am also pleased to add that I recently held a roundtable with a range of stakeholders on the issue of LGBT homelessness which explored prevalence and what we can do to address it in the coming months. We will continue to make progress on LGBT rights and will set out further details soon.</p><p> </p>
