answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/06/2015 answer text <p>Through the Waste and Resources Action Programme the Government is working with food manufacturers and retailers, including all the major UK supermarkets, to meet targets to reduce food waste from households and the grocery supply chain under the Courtauld Commitment.</p><p>Signatories reported a reduction of 7.4% in food supply chain waste since 2010 (there are also targets on household food waste and packaging waste). Approximately 85% of the UK seal population is in Scotland and the Scottish Government has its own legislation concerning the protection of seals.</p><p>Seals in England are primarily protected by the Conservation of Seals Act 1970. Such a ‘Conservation Order’ currently protects grey and common seals on the east coast of England.
