answer text <p>The Environment Agency does not have exact figures for the number of organisations accessing the Climate Ready Support Service because the service worked extensively through partners and intermediaries, as well as directly with organisations.</p><p> </p><p>The number given in my previous answer was calculated using statistics that the Environment Agency does have available, for example:</p><p> </p><ul><li><p>Download statistics show that over 8000 businesses have used the Climate Ready Business Resilience Health Check tool online.</p><p> </p></li><li><p>The service, in partnership with Climate UK, provided training and qualifications in business resilience, including preparing for severe weather and climate change, to over 300 business advisors and small businesses (SMEs).</p></li></ul> more like this

answer text <p>The extensive range of tools that the CRSS produced with stakeholders over the past four years will continue to be available to help businesses adapt. They are currently available across a range of websites, due to the partnership nature of the service’s work. The majority can be found at <a href="http://climateuk.net/" target="_blank">http://climateuk.net/</a> and <a href="http://www.iema.net/" target="_blank">http://www.iema.net/</a>. answer text <p>The Government provides funding to Lead Local Flood Authorities to carry out their duties in relation to managing and co-ordinating local flood risk under the Flood and Water Management Act. Local flood risk includes surface water run off. However, local authorities decide what to spend according to local priorities.</p><p> </p><p>For the past three years this funding has been provided through two mechanisms i.e. direct grant from Defra via the Local Services Support Grant and from the Department for Communities and Local Government through the Local Government Finance Settlement. The project is contracted to the plastic packing manufacturer Aquapak Polymers Ltd, and is due to report in December this year. answer text <p>The Department does not expect to pay any penalties and disallowances imposed by the EU Commission in relation to air pollution in 2016-2017.</p><p> </p><p>The Commission has started infraction proceedings against the UK for not achieving European limit values for NO<sub>2</sub>. We want to work in partnership with Local Authorities and the Commission to improve air quality and avoid any prospect of fines levied from infraction. In December 2015, the Government published air quality plans setting out a comprehensive approach for meeting EU legal limits in the shortest possible time through a new programme of Clean Air Zones, alongside national action and continued investment in clean technologies. answer text <p>The effects of climate change continue to be taken into account within policy making across Defra and all levels of Government and within the broad range of related communications activities. Targeted communications closely tied to specific climate threats help those affected to understand potential impacts and the practical actions that they can take to increase their resilience and adapt. For instance, the Environment Agency have been ‘geo-targeting’ people in specific high flood risk locations via Facebook and other services to promote the benefits of and sign up to the free flood warning service.</p><p> </p><p>Government will be publishing the second UK Climate Change Risk Assessment in 2017 to be followed by the second National Adaptation Programme report and will, as part of that process, consider the need for further public communications on the effects of climate change in the UK.</p><p> </p> more like this
