<p>Scientific advice and analysis have underpinned the Government's policy making
in the development of current social distancing measures and our recently published
strategy. A wide range of advice and analysis was considered to inform the most recent
review of measures announced by the Prime Minister in May.</p><p>In previous emergencies,
such as the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic, papers were published only at the end of
the emergency. By contrast, in recognition of the importance of transparency in these
unprecedented times, SAGE has been publishing statements and accompanying evidence
to demonstrate how the scientific understanding of COVID-19 has continued to evolve
as new data emerges, and how SAGE’s advice has adapted to findings that reflect a
