answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/09/2019 answer text <p>The Department has previously announced up to £6 million in this financial year to develop a programme of support for schools – the funding will not be distributed to individual schools. Further funding beyond the next financial year is a matter of the forthcoming Spending Review.</p><p>The programme of support will focus on tools that improve schools’ practice, such as an implementation guide, easy access to high quality resources, and support for staff training. The Department is currently working with schools and teachers to develop a programme of support that is suited to their needs.</p><p>The Department will ensure that all of the materials supporting implementation of the new subjects are inclusive. The Department is also encouraging schools to start teaching the subjects from September 2019, so that it can improve and share good practice ahead of compulsory teaching from September 2020.</p><p>The Department has published guides that set out clearly the nature and content of the subjects, as well as explaining parents’ rights and how they should be engaged in the development of the curriculum.</p><p>The Department will support any school that has engaged with parents and listened to their views, and takes reasonable decisions on their relationships education curriculum, including the teaching of topics sensitive to parents.</p><p> </p> answering member constituency Bognor Regis and Littlehampton answering member printed Nick Gibb question first answered 03/09/2019 15:43:31 answering member 111 label Biography information for Nick Gibb

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/08/2019 answer text <p>As at 23 July 2019, there are six independent schools sponsoring a total of 13 academies. All of these independent schools were approved as sponsors prior to 2017.</p><p>Of the free schools we have opened since 2017, the London Academy of Excellence (LAE) in Tottenham was set up by an independent school, Highgate School. LAE Tottenham is supported by Highgate School, as well as eight other leading independent partner schools.</p><p>The school’s sister school, LAE Stratford, was set up by Brighton College in 2012. The school reported that in the 2018/19 academic year, 26 students received offers from Oxford or Cambridge. This is an outstanding achievement, especially in a geographic area with relatively low Oxbridge destinations.</p><p>The Department has a joint understanding with the Independent Schools Council to encourage more independent schools to work in partnership with state-funded schools across four key areas: governance, teaching, curriculum and targeted school improvement. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/07/2019 answer text <p>From September 2019, primary schools will be encouraged to follow the new relationships education curriculum and compliance will be compulsory from September 2020.</p><p>Ofsted’s role, in relation to schools, is to provide an independent assessment of their effectiveness on a range of matters. This includes the breadth, balance and ambition of the school’s curriculum.</p><p>As set out in Ofsted’s published School Inspection Handbook, from September 2019, inspectors will take account of the relationships education taught in each school as part of an evaluation of pupils’ personal development. Inspectors will also take account of the religious education taught, as part of assessing the quality of education provided by the school.</p><p>It is not Ofsted’s role to inspect denominational religious education in faith schools as part of its inspections. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/06/2019 answer text <p>The Department is on track to create one million places this decade, the largest increase in school capacity for at least two generations.</p><p>The Department collects pupil forecasts, existing school capacities, and plans to deliver additional school places from each local authority via the annual school capacity survey.
