answer text
During the development of the scheme HS2 Ltd has sought to assess the capacity of the rail freight industry to support its plans to transfer excavated and construction materials by rail. HS2 Ltd’s understanding of the volume of material that will need to be transported by rail continue to be refined. HS2 Ltd and its supply chain continue to engage with the rail industry to move these plans forward. As plans become more certain, HS2 Ltd and its supply chain are seeking to secure rail freight support, including making applications to Network Rail for timetable capacity allocation through the standard industry process. The first of these requests has been submitted, in time for the December 2019 timetable change.
more like this

answer text
The recent delays at Felixstowe are a matter for the port to resolve. I understand that steps are being taken to rectify the problem and the situation is already improving.

The delays do not impact on government’s market led port policy that sees a successful, competitive port sector. As such we continue to welcome the ongoing private sector investment at the Port of Felixstowe to enhance both its physical and digital infrastructure for the long term, whilst port development elsewhere means vessels were able to call at other suitable UK ports as needed.

more like this

answer text
The port connectivity study was commissioned specifically to examine the current level of surface access to sea-ports in England. Discussions were therefore undertaken with relevant stakeholders who utilise that surface access. This included road and rail freight industries, logistics companies, exporters, and the port industry, but not the aviation sector directly, though some of these stakeholders may work with both aviation and port sectors

The Government is developing a new Aviation Strategy for the UK. It will set out the long-term direction for aviation policy to 2050 and beyond. This includes reviewing how road and rail links to airports are planned and delivered.
more like this
