answer text
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has not had discussions with local councils on grants for Easter community events held in or by churches. More broadly, the Department encourages local authorities to consider supporting local community events. This includes the MHCLG-funded Near Neighbours programme which provides small grants to local communities to encourage people to come together to break down barriers, including funding events centred around a religious festival.
more like this

answer text
The Government recognises the importance of local funding for support services for vulnerable people including those over 55.

The funding for housing related support services is subsumed within the local government finance settlement. This funding was ring-fenced until 2009, when the ring-fence was removed thus allowing all local authorities to manage funding according to local priorities. It is up to local authorities to decide which services they wish to fund.

We are currently undertaking a review of housing related-support, to help us better understand how housing and support fit together. The review will give us a fuller picture into how housing-related support is provided for supported housing across England.

The Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) can also support all eligible, including older, people to adapt their homes, to make them safe and suitable for their needs. Since 2012-13, the Government has invested more than £2.2 billion into the Grant, providing around 280,000 adaptations by the end of 2018-19. The grant has more than doubled from £220 million in 2015-16 to £505 million in 2019-20. The DFG is ring-fenced ensuring local authorities are providing necessary adaptations and not re-purposing it elsewhere.

answer text
For the past four years of the First World War centenary, we have supported a number of projects that have highlighted the contribution of the Chinese Labour Corps. We supported the ‘Unremembered Project’, which recognised the contribution made by labour corps from across Asia, Africa and the Caribbean, and this included a focus on the Chinese Labour Corps. We also supported the Meridian Society to work in schools and communities to highlight the almost 100,000 men recruited by Britain to provide essential logistical support in Europe. Currently, we are also supporting the ‘Ensuring We Remember ’ campaign, to create a permanent memorial in central London, to be unveiled in 2019. This memorial is backed by the Chinese in Britain Forum and the Chinese embassy.
more like this

answer text
Tackling homelessness is a complex issue with no single solution, but we are determined to help the most vulnerable in society.

That is why we are providing over £1 billion up to 2020 to reduce all forms of homelessness and rough sleeping, and introducing the most ambitious legislative reform in decades through the Homelessness Reduction Act to ensure people get support sooner. In particular, we are supporting 84 projects through our Homelessness Prevention programme across a variety of areas, ranging from core cities, to coastal towns, to rural areas.

We are also providing £28 million to pilot Housing First in three major regions of England. The pilots will support some of the most entrenched rough sleepers off the streets and help them to end their homelessness.

The recently established Rough Sleeping and Homelessness Reduction Taskforce will first deliver a cross-Government strategy to halve rough sleeping by 2022 and eliminate it altogether by 2027. However, it will also drive action to reduce wider homelessness and will have within its remit issues such as prevention and affordability.
