answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/02/2019 answer text <p>The Political Declaration sets out the terms of an ambitious future trading relationship between the UK and the EU, including deep regulatory and customs cooperation.</p><p>Within this context the UK may choose to align with the EU’s rules in relevant areas for goods. The application of checks and controls at the border would depend on the UK’s commitments, including in relation to the level of alignment.</p><p>This balance will need to be agreed during the course of the future negotiations. Both sides have been clear that they wish to be as ambitious as possible. We have also agreed that there is a relationship between the UK’s commitments and checks and controls required between the UK and EU, which may lead to a spectrum of outcomes, but that both the UK and EU wish to be as ambitious as possible in establishing a future partnership. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/10/2018 answer text <p>The Government has published its White Paper setting out a clear proposal for the future relationship we want to build with the European Union.</p><p>This represents a substantial evolution of our proposals towards our future relationship which are of greater scope than any such existing agreement, and reflect our shared history and values, close ties, and unique starting point.</p><p>The Government’s proposals for its future economic relationship with the EU strikes a new and fair balance of rights and obligations. It sets out a UK-EU trade area for goods to ensure continued frictionless access at the border to each other's markets, underpinned by an upfront commitment to a common rulebook on goods, including agri-food and a Facilitated Customs Arrangement to avoid customs checks and controls at our border. DExEU is leading a process to explore what action is needed across international agreements with third countries.
