It has produced Authorised Professional Practice and a range of training materials to support officers to help vulnerable people effectively, including those with mental health problems and autism.</p><p>Training on mental health and vulnerabilities issues is integrated throughout the initial police learning programme which all new recruits – police constables, special constables and PCSOs – must complete. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/06/2019 answer text <p>Each Chief Constable has a duty to manage and support their workforce effectively, ensuring the welfare of all officers and staff.</p><p>The Government takes the issue of police welfare very seriously and has invested in programmes which offer help directly to officers and staff. In July 2017 the Home Office awarded £7.5 million from the Police Transformation Fund to the College of Policing over three years to pilot and, if these pilots were successful, roll out a dedicated national service to help provide enhanced welfare support to serving police officers and staff.</p><p>Following two years of development and piloting, the National Police Wellbeing Service (NPWS) was launched in April 2019. We recognise that the police are seeing increased demands as more complex crime is being reported. We helped the police to respond with a £460m increase in overall police funding in 2018/19, including increased funding for local policing through Council Tax precept.</p><p>We are reviewing police funding power ahead of announcing the 2019/20 police funding settlement. Forces are changing how they deliver local policing to reflect the priorities of local people and so that they can better respond to the changing crime mix.</p><p>Effective community engagement and intelligence gathering takes more than just a visible police presence. Prevention, partnership working, problem-solving and safeguarding the vulnerable remain key. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/10/2018 answer text <p>From 1 November, certain cannabis-based products for medicinal use, that meet conditions related to the quality of their manufacture and supply routes, can be prescribed by doctors on the specialist register of the General Medical Council (GMC). GPs will not be able to prescribe cannabis-based medicinal products for their patients.</p><p>There is no requirement for specialist doctors to notify the police or the Home Office when issuing prescription for these products. Controlled Drug Accountable Officers have a statutory responsibility to secure the safe management and use of controlled drugs.
