answer text
We are deeply concerned by the deterioration in the security situation in South Sudan. This will make it even harder for aid to reach the millions of South Sudanese displaced from their homes and the almost 5 million, nearly half the population, at risk of severe food insecurity. The UK is taking a lead role. We have contributed £242million to the humanitarian crisis since the outbreak of conflict in December 2013, along with an additional £93million to support South Sudanese refugees in the region. But ultimately the South Sudanese leaders must take responsibility for respecting the ceasefires and protecting their people.
more like this

answer text
The UK has increased its bilateral spend on water and sanitation year on year since 2004, from £31.2million (2004/05) to £180.8million (2014/15). The Department for International Development does not allocate a set proportion of the aid budget to water and sanitation. The UK Aid strategy commits the UK to helping at least 60 million people get access to water and sanitation by 2020. We will allocate the resources required to achieve this to the relevant programmes.
more like this
