HM Revenue and Customs has set up an outreach team which is particularly focused on responding to the needs of smaller charities.</p><p>This team regularly makes visits to small charities and has provided face-to-face presentations to over 650, raising awareness and helping charities to receive support through the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme, as well as the full range of available tax reliefs to which they are entitled.</p><p> </p><p>Amounts claimed under the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme since 2013 are £6 million in 2013/14, £21 million in 2014/15 and £26 million in 2015/16. Figures for 2016/17 are not currently available.</p><p> </p><p>The costs of administering the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme and instances of malpractice are not available as they are included in the figures for the wider Gift Aid scheme, and cannot be separately extracted.</p><p> </p>

answer text <p>A comprehensive Review of the Monetary Policy Framework was published in 2013, considering the benefits and costs of a number of different monetary policy frameworks. The review concluded that operational independence has helped improve credibility and accountability of monetary policy, leading to stable inflation and inflation expectations, and in turn macroeconomic stability.</p><p> </p><p>The current remit for the Monetary Policy Committee reflects the assessment set out in the 2013 Review, which reaffirms the Bank of England’s operation independence and a flexible inflation targeting framework.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government is reviewing the Payment Services Regulations as part of its implementation of the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2). The Regulations apply to foreign exchange firms conducting a payment transaction as part of a currency exchange. There are currently no plans to review the regulation of foreign exchange providers more widely. However, Government will continue to monitor the sector to ensure that consumers and businesses using foreign exchange services are treated fairly.</p> more like this

answer text <p>These schemes are under investigation by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Penalties are in place for those caught attempting to avoid tax by using an avoidance scheme. This includes promoters of such schemes who can face fines of up to £1 million for failing to notify an avoidance scheme under the Disclosure of Tax Avoidance Schemes regime.</p><p> </p><p>In the last two years, HMRC has secured an additional £5.5 billion through targeting tax avoidance schemes<em>.</em> The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced in the Autumn Statement 2016 that the Government will counter abuse of the VAT Flat Rate Scheme while keeping VAT accounting simple for the small businesses that use the scheme as intended.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Ahead of the Autumn Statement, HM Treasury received submissions from a range of stakeholders. While it would not be appropriate to respond in detail to each individual proposals, the government did carefully consider all submissions.</p><p> </p><p>In particular the Treasury responded to calls for more to be done on housing. The Chancellor announced at the Autumn Statement that government would invest an additional £5.3bn in housing. This includes a £2.3bn Housing Infrastructure Fund to deliver infrastructure to unlock 100,000 homes and £1.4bn to deliver 40,000 new affordable homes. Government also announced that it would relax restrictions on existing affordable housing funding to deliver a wider variety of affordable housing tenures to help people at different stages in their lives.</p><p> </p><p>Further reforms to increase housing supply will be brought forward through the Department for Communities and Local Government’s Housing White Paper, which will be published in due course.</p>

answer text <p>Analysis of spending in the UK shows that we expect 7% of receipts to cover rural development and the environment, 44% to cover agriculture and fisheries and 27% to cover research and development under the 2014-20 Multiannual Financial Framework. The sterling value of those receipts will depend on a number of factors, including the timing of payments and the exchange rate prevailing at that time.
