answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/07/2022 answer text <p>There were a number of officials who provided information relating to their policy areas to identify retained EU legislation for inclusion in the Retained EU Law Dashboard. This was an iterative process over a number of months. In Full Time Equivalent terms this staffing resource would equate to 0.5 FTE.</p><p>There has been no additional non-pay cost to the public purse by creating the dashboard. The process was led by the Cabinet Office, who commissioned Government Departments to find REUL within their legislation and compile an authoritative account of where REUL sits on the UK statute book.</p><p>The dashboard itself is made by the Government Strategic Management Office and is hosted on Tableau Public, which is a free platform for hosting public dashboards. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/07/2022 answer text <p>The Government takes reports of illegal and unsafe employment practices, including in the social care sector, incredibly seriously. Enforcement bodies, including the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority, will take full and robust enforcement action in such cases.</p><p>The direction for the three labour market enforcement bodies is set out by the Director of Labour Market Enforcement in her annual strategy. The strategy includes an assessment of the highest risk sectors, which enables the enforcement bodies to target their activity in areas of greatest concern. The Government is guided by the annual strategy and considers appropriate policy interventions for sectors identified at highest risk, such as expanding the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority’s licensing scheme to the care sector and will keep this under review. It is imperative that we have a strong evidence base in considering policies that will best protect vulnerable workers and drive-up standards. The Director of Labour Market Enforcement will continue to monitor sectors at risk.</p><p>Furthermore, the 2019 manifesto included a commitment for the Government to continue its campaigns to eradicate the scourge of modern slavery. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/07/2022 answer text <p>Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Service (HMICFRS) independently and continuously assesses the efficiency and effectiveness of every police force in England and Wales. Forces are escalated into an enhanced monitoring phase, 'Engage' on the basis of HMI concerns over their ability to address areas of significant and/or longstanding underperformance.</p><p>Forces in the engage phase of monitoring attend the Policing Performance Oversight Group (PPOG), comprising senior stakeholders from the College of Policing, Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, National Police Chief’s Council and the Home Office, to provide the constructive support and challenge needed to address those areas of underperformance which are a cause for concern.</p><p>Chief Constables of ‘engaged’ forces are expected to present a comprehensive improvement plan to PPOG, which meets regularly to consider the progress being made and to support the force to address the failings identified. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/07/2022 answer text <p>Section 156 of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 introduces a statutory aggravating factor for assaults committed against those providing a public service, performing a public duty or providing a service to the public.</p><p>The public facing nature of the victim’s role will therefore be considered an aggravating factor when it comes to sentencing for assault offences. This will send a very strong signal that assaults of this kind are totally unacceptable. This Government wants to ensure those who are serving the public can feel protected from abuse when working. The provision commenced on 28 June 2022.</p><p>The economic impact assessment for the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 will be published in due course. An equality impact assessment was published on introduction of the Bill. We know the serious impact that persistent anti-social behaviour can have on both individuals and communities.</p><p>We provided the police, local authorities, and other local agencies with a range of tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to ASB through the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.</p><p>However, it is for local areas to decide how best to deploy these powers depending on the specific circumstances. They are best placed to understand what is driving the behaviour in question, the impact that it is having, and to determine the most appropriate response.</p><p>It is for Chief Constables and PCCs, as operational leaders and elected local representatives, to decide how best to respond to local crime priorities and to help ensure that the police have the resources they need, we have given them the biggest funding increase in a decade and are recruiting 20,000 additional officers by March 2023, which provides extra resource to protect the public and keep us safe.</p><p>Home Office statutory guidance was updated in June 2022. It supports for local areas to make effective use of the anti-social behaviour powers. As well as recruiting 20,000 additional police officers, we are also taking steps to address issues that we know affect rural communities. The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act empowers and equips the police and courts with the powers they need to combat hare coursing. The Government is also providing funding for the National Wildlife Crime Unit. As at 31 March 2022, Cumbria Police has recruited 117 additional uplift officers against a combined year 1 and 2 allocation of 101 officers. The force has been allocated 68 additional uplift officers in the final year of Uplift.
