answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/10/2015 answer text <p>Tackling gender equality is a top priority for my Department. <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/298253/Strategic_Vision_for_Girls_and_Women_Narrative_-_November_2013-4.pdf" target="_blank">Our Strategic Vision for Girls and Women</a> puts voice, choice and control for girls and women at the centre of our international development efforts.</p><p>We fought hard in international negotiations on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), for a strong stand-alone goal on gender equality and empowerment of women and girls, as well as gender-sensitive targets throughout the SDG framework. An SDG framework incorporating strong gender goals and targets was adopted by the UN General Assembly last month and will be critical to achieving transformational change to the lives of girls and women across the globe. These include to: save 1.4m children’s lives by 2020, by immunising 76m children against killer diseases; lead a major new global programme to accelerate the development of vaccines and drugs to eliminate the world’s deadliest infectious diseases, while investing to save lives from malaria and working to end preventable child and maternal deaths; and work to achieve equitable access to family planning. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/09/2015 answer text <p>The UK government has been at the forefront of the refugee crisis and is taking every opportunity to work with partners across Europe and in the wider international community to ensure that, collectively, we are able to provide a significant and comprehensive development response.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The UK is contributing over £1 billion in response to the humanitarian crisis in Syria and the region and is urging the international community as a whole to step up life-saving assistance and protection for refugees and vulnerable people.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The UK lobbied hard to mobilise funding from other donors ahead of the third Kuwait Pledging Conference on 31 March, which raised $3.6 billion.
